The potential is there, but just shy of the value

Pros: proximity to the beach, the Rumfish Grill was an excellent experience.
Cons: Cleanliness is always an issue for beachside hotels, and this is no exception.
Location: If you want to lounge on the gulf beach, eat, walk the white sands and relax, this is a great choice.
My wife and I don't get to travel very much at all. She loves the beach and we decided to jump on our first opportunity in years to get away wihtout the kids. Getting into the Hotel was an absolute nightmare. We waited several light cycles right in front of the "resort" just to be able to make a left turn into the facility. Despite a very full house, the staff up front was patient, kind and helpful. I didn't need the immediate pitch to buy a repeat trip, but hey, he was just doing his job, right? The doorman was a young man who was extremely helpful and professional. Our first night we decided to eat at the in-house grill, and it was a HORRIBLE experience. The staff was clueless, clearly didn't want to be there, and overwhelmed. We waited about 45 minutes for a burger and fish tacos... The burger was not prepared as my wife ordered (we watched another table get our order) and no attempt to alleviate the error was made. Skip the in house restaurant! We ate the RumFish the next night and all I can say is EXCELLENT. Great service, excellent food, and a very good experience! My wife is IN food service, and SHE raved about her meal. They were out of their signature dish when we were there. The "starbucks" is used premade coffees for their espresso drinks, and despite paying the premium were not up to our expectations.

Very nice and helpful staff. Older building but reasonably well maintained. Food and drink are plenty expensive. Great beach.

Pros: Location and facilities. Great shop for gifts.
Cons: Hand rails in bath - low small bath makes it hard to get out!
Location: What could be better - its right on the beach with available watersports
Hotel location is awesome with plenty for all to enjoy without leaving the resort. Sunsets amazing.

Guy Harvey is a Facade all right...

Posted Nov 12, 2014
While I would not recommend the Outpost, I would consider the sister Tradewinds property as a good family resort, with lots of activities for kids, decent food alternatives and a resort type stay. The Outpost was an older facility, slapped with a fresh(er) coat of Guy Harvey colors. Tiki hut is beat, singers are loud-ish and not very good, family pool is small, pool furniture is all yucked-up with sun tan lotion, towels are just thrown into a huge hamper-pile, beach chairs are old and rickety and the bartenders didn't know how to make drinks on their own special board. While the staff was mostly friendly (not you Janet), they almost never knew an answer to any question we posed, never followed up w problems and rarely stood out as actually helpful. There was always a huge gap in what your ordered off menus and what you you were brought. Rumfish restaurant and tours there are good to very good and definitely the best part and worth a trip even if you're staying elsewhere. In short, there are better places to spend the money you would at Guy Harvey Outpost.

We had a free night with hotel.com and decided on a week end date.We loved the decorations and the guy Harvey designed through the hotel lobbies, close to the beach we did appreciate that.We were surprised to be charged and outrageous 35$ for parking and use of the cabanas we did not use for one day. Hotel proximity with a bridge with a toll - all the extra fees we did not expect
