“It works”

4 gals up for a week-end and loved the beach and the restaurants and bars within walking distance. If you plan on staying in your room for hours, this won't be where you want to stay. There are very few gulf view rooms and the rest have an asphalt view. Beware that the balconies don't accomodate more than 2 people.

“The best location to the beach.”

The location is what is the best of this hotel. We walked right out the back, pass the pool and hit sand. The beach location was the best. The pool was nice and clean. We loved the tables with grass umbrellas. The bar and snack bar in the pool area was a nice break from the kids. The downside was the air conditioning didn't work so well. During the night we would be hot. Everything is very old, but clean. There wasn't much counter space for the bathroom, which with a mom and a teenager wasn't good. We didn't spend much time in the room, so it worked out. The location is great. We walked 2 blocks to a great steak house for dinner one night. I would stay there again. The price was great. The cleaning staff wasn't so nice, but the front desk staff was very nice, friendly and helpful on how to get around town.

“Happy”

We couldn't be more happy. Everything about it was just fine. Thfect for the two of us and had evere room was perything we needed. The staff was great to our every needs. I would recommend the restraunt that was onsite to everyone that stay's there. The food was excellent and you can't go wrong with the $4.99 dz oysters. The location was great as it was close to shop's and restraunts. Plan on going back real soon and can't wait.

“Crowed with college kids”

We could only get a room on the first floor facing the parking lot. After the bars closed I was awake most of the night from groups of people coming back to the hotel and making quite a bit of noise in the parking lot/hallways. The room itself was clean but the hotel was old, very much in need of an update! The location was great, the beach beautiful and many restaurants within walking distance. Just too noisy for me!! Think I'd pay a bit more next time to stay somewhere else.

“Great Option on the Beach”

We needed a place to stay for one night before catching a flight back home to Chicago. We waqnted to stay on St. Pete Beach for nostalgia's sake and the hotel we used to stay in has been demolished. Most of the others were either booked or VERY pricey. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the hotel was very nice and the location on the beach was perfect. We could even see the water and boats from our lowest price room!

“NOT IMPRESSED”

Older hotel. Phone did not work upon check-in. They did send maintenence opon my 2nd request. Remote did not work. Ironing board would not go down. Coffee pot lid broken. Overall it was pretty shabby. Next time I will go ahead and spend a little more for comfort.

“Very Dissatified”

What was so bad was I made the reservation on expida, three weeks ahead. When we finally got our room, it was not what I asked for at all. I wanted beach front well we got nothing like that. When I called the front desk, a gentleman answered and I told him my issue, and he got snotty with me. So I called another hotel Bilmar and thats were we stayed. It was so much nicer....... I will not return back to Howard Johnson at all, and I would not recommend this to any of my friends or family.

“Will Not Return, spend the extra money.”

I was very disappointed with my stay at the Howard Johnson. The hallways and room had a musky smell, the room was not very clean, and right before i left, i noticed a bug crawling up the wall. I did not feel comfortable in the room. The only positive thing i have to say about the hotel was the pool area. The pool was as advertised and clean.
