Luxurious Beachfront Hotel

Posted Aug 19, 2014
Pros: The rooms were beautiful and spacious. The common areas were very inviting and there were lots of places to lounge and enjoy the view.
Cons: I wish it was a little less expensive so I could afford to stay longer!
Location: Jet Ski tours are a great way to explore the water. The beach is great with white sand and "clear water" as the name implied.
The hotel is perfectly located in a perfect spot at Clearwater Beach. You’re close to everything but not so close that it keeps you up at night. The hotel was very luxurious, full service and the room was well laid out. Waking up to an incredible view of the beach was incredible. The two bedroom suite we stayed in was perfect for a long stay and the kitchen was set up with full size appliances and all the dishes you’d need. The hotel has a terrace that allows you to take in the sunrise or sunset. Gym was great and offers sunrise views of the bay side of Clearwater. The poolside bar and grill offered a birds eye view of the beach and the food was good. Room service was delivered quickly and the food was good. The hotel breakfast was a bit pricey if you didn’t get it included in the room but they offered to make fresh omelets, French toast and eggs to order as part of it. My kids thought it was worth it. I can’t wait to go back to this hotel!!

Lots of room for improvement

Posted Aug 11, 2014
Pros: The hotel is clean and in a good location. The valet service was excellent and most of the staff members were friendly and responsive.
Cons: Don't charge for the beach chairs/umbrellas and extend use till sunset. Improve pull out sofa mattress; springs can be felt on surface. Improve wifi
Location: There's a wonderful restaurant called Salt and Pepper that was about 10 minutes away from the hotel. The food was so good we went twice in 4 days!
I went with an open mind given the rating, but I was disappointed in many ways. First off, the hotel design is very inconvenient. The beach is across the street and requires 2 separate elevator systems to get there. And once there, you have to pay $25.00 per day to rent an umbrella and 2 chairs AND you are harassed at 5:01 if you haven't vacated your chair. This is at a public beach which was so crowded there was hardly any room to walk to get to the ocean without stepping on someone. Also, there's no alcohol permitted on public beaches. And if you thought the pool was a decent alternative, think again. That requires another 2 elevator systems (one of which is open to the public since the hotel is attached to a public parking facility) to get to the 8th floor where the small pool was filled to the gills! There was no place to enter the pool without bumping into someone and there were so many kids throwing balls it was silly to even try. Then there's another $25 charge per day for use of things like pool towels and wi-fi service. The pool towels had to be carted to the beach and returned to avoid further charges, and then, you guessed it, when you go to the pool same towel rules apply. I might have gotten over that charge IF the wi-fi was operable which it was not (and when it was working it was extremely slow). Being desperate, we paid an additional $4.99 for faster wi-fi service which didn't improve the service at all. All in all it was a big disappointment.

Uncomfortable

The room smelled. Too small. Would not accommodate my stay. Not ON the beach as expected. They charge extra fee for parking.

Nice hotel. Public beach access and overcrowed.

Posted Jul 22, 2014
Pros: The hotel staff is nice and helpful.
Cons: Make sure locals can't get into the hotel. Have floors in the parking garage, elevator and section on the beach that only hotel guests can use.
Location: Too busy and overcrowded with rude and dirty people who have no respect for our planet and othe human beings.
The hyatt is nice. The staff is amazing, but this does not make up for the fact that the parking garage is open to the public and the beach is free and open to the public. If you can look past the litter (disposal cups, dirty diapers and vomit), the beach is lovely. The parking garage is very busy and if often time consuming to exit. The elevators are full of smelly beach goers. I think the hyatt should have floors in the parking garage, elevators and a portion of the beach just for hyatt guests...considering we pay a fortune to be there. Also, I don't like how people not staying at the hotel are often inside the hyatt to use the washrooms. The beach is nice in the morning but after about noon it is too busy and overcrowded with rude and gross people. I will never bring my family to Clearwater beach again. We tried to go to the pool in the afternoon to escape the craziness at the beach but it too was all jammed although the hotel crowd was more decent than the beach crowd. People love free access and I would rather pay a little extra to ensure a clean and relaxing stay. There is a heavy police presence everywhere which makes me think the area is unsafe. Never again!

Great but right in the middle of public beach

Posted Jul 15, 2014
Pros: the staff was excellent, the food was great and the room is perfect, clean, big and comfortable.
Cons: Nothing is wrong with the hotel, except its location.
Location: It is on top of a big surf/ t shirt shop, there are about 4 restaurants within a walk (.4 of a mile) and many more within a mile, heart of Clearwater
This is good and bad. It was easy to get to everything, almost with a walk to restaurants and typical surf shop /t shirt type stores. However, it is the closest hotel to the center driving circle and main parking for the beach. So the beach (which is a walk across the street from the hotel) is packed with anyone driving to the beach for the day. So very crowded. Now the beach is clean, big and has nice spots to clean off your feet and life guards because it is the public part. It just is a give and take and if you want a quiet walk on the beach you have to go miles away.

Nice, but misleading pictures

Posted Jul 13, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Sleeper sofa mattress is a torture item.
Location: Multiple activities in the area, and Tampa is not too far away
While legally correct, "steps to the beach" omits the fact you have to cross a street to get to the beach. The facility is approaching renovation time as there are several signs of wear & tear. Overall a good experience, but the beach is PACKED on weekends, so get a spot early.
