“House hunting”
Hotel is conveniently located on US-19 (34th St. St. Pete) in the Pinellas Park area of Pinellas County. From this location you can travel in just about any direction with ease. Behind the hotel is a local favorite restaurant, Quaker Steak and Lube. It looks like a quick-lube oil change garage but is actually an eatery with a sports bar slash motor head kind-of theme. Inside there are NASCAR racing shells suspended from the ceiling and a racing theme decor that is really unique and well thought out. Also the hostess desk is the front of a vintage "64 mustang and there is a Corvette bolted to the wall in the dining room along with all kinds of other interesting gear-head trinkets and memorabilia. The restaurant sponsors car shows of local antique car and hot rod owners in the parking lot weekly and has live bands in the patio area on weekends. There are many other local dining options close by and shopping is also convenient to this location.
“dank”
I booked the room months in advance (2 double beds), they only had a room with a king (I had to share it with my teenage son). The room smelled. And it was directly on Hwy. 19 - in the middle of nowhere. Not very close to anything.
“Used to be better.”
This is a difficult review to write. We have stayed at this hotel several times over the past few years, and it is sad to see it go downhill, as it has. I believe the overall problem stems from the noise made by the band playing outside the restaurant behind the hotel. All of the rooms on the back side of the hotel are pounded by the loud music coming from the band. If you are in one of these rooms, you will find no peace until the band stops playing. The hotel employees are aware of the noise problem, and were extremely apologetic about it. They were very open with the noise problem when we checked in, but had no vacancy on the front side of the hotel. Lots of noise, but very good employees.
“Not a bad deal”
The hotel staff were friendly, hotel clean and comfortable. Some of the weights on the weight machine were broken so it could not be totally utilized and could use a bit more AC in there. The sauna and pool were nice. Would have been nice to have had the sauna available outside but it was still ok inside. The pool a bit small but well kept. The location was good if one wanted to be away from the beach scene and wanted to be near Walmart or Target both about a 10 minute highway drive away. The hotel would have been great fantastic if it had been on the beach and still at the good price we got. The breakfast buffet had a waffle maker, eggs made for a mcmuffin, but the food on some days was eaten quickly by guests and it wasn't replenished quickly enough so it could take some time on occasion to get breakfast. The internet worked ok but was not a simple turn it on and go. It took a little bit of setup on my part at first. Overall, I say the hotel was a very good experience.
“Great, great hotel.”
Everything was above average. The location is the only down side this hotel. It was behind some office buildings. The were closed for that weekend so no distractions.
“Good Hotel”
Good Hotel, but not great. The rooms were clean and the hotel staff was very nice, but there were a couple of things that need addressing. If you want a great night's sleep, bring your own pillow. Our King Suite had four pillows on the bed, but they were flat, very uncomfortable pillows. The second area that needs improvement is the breakfast. It is a hot breakfast bar, but it is very heavy on carbohydrates. Also the staff was slow about refilling the items for the two mornings we were there. Oveall, it is a decent hotel and I would recommend it to friends.
“Mixed view on hotel”
The room and furnishings were commecially acceptable and clean. It needed a rehab to bring it out of the 15 year old catagory to modern standards. The room safe was inoperable and one day durning a four day stay the room was not made up. One (of two) elevators got stuck between floors. Staff was so-so. Breakfast was ordinary, but adequate. Our room on the highway side was plauge by traffic noises all night. All in all, a place to lay your head if nothing better is available.
“Perfect for short stays”
quiet, friendly, close to restuarants,
“I will be visiting again, and enjoyed the comfortable room.”
Environment was pleasant. Some of the staff did not know the area and were not able to even give directions with a map. Other staff were helpful. Over all a good experience.
“Clean Hotel, but not in the center of the action”
Hospital was clean. Breakfast was simple, but consistent and good. Front desk help was minimal if you had any special request. Location not great for Clearwater proper, but not within a twenty minute drive to most places you'd want to go for Phillies spring training. Excellent access to US 19: the main artery that gets you to all the places you'd want to go in Clearwater (beaches, baseball, restaurants, etc.)
