Beauty VS Location

Posted Jul 7, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: THe room had some wear issues; nothing overly ruined.
Location: Ceviche is attached to the hotel. Great asset; Dali Museum is a dream and there are also small concert halls around.
We chose this property for it's location. It is in the middle of all there is "to do" in the area. The room could use some extra TCL and it does have some wear issues but what it is important it was clean. We parked the car and did not have to use it the whole time as everything was walking distance. I would go again.

Pros: Convenience to local attractions and restaurants, cute modern furnishings
Cons: Cleanliness, the musty smell in the stairwell
Location: Yacht club, restaurants, parks, waterfront, shopping, music venues, night life
Stayed for one night on the 4th of July for our anniversary and the fireworks display. Nice convenience, friendly staff, good location

READ THE REVIEWS. I DID NOT DO THAT.

Pros: Staff was friendly and the Air Conditioner worked well.
Cons: Free parking at the local garage for hotel guest would be a good improvement. Bigger bathrooms, larger TVs. Blinds that close. Better beds.
Location: Great location. Lots of Bars and Restaurants within walking distance. Museums near buy. Tropicana Field is just a stone throw away.
Reserved a STANDARD QUEEN. Ended up in a Studio. Room was the smallest I have ever stayed in. Room was too cramped. Bathroom was so small I had to sit sideways on the toilet or band my thigh on the wall and door. Beds were super firm. I felt as if I were sleeping on the floor with a pillow. I did not sleep at all. My iPad Air has a bigger screen than the TV that was provided. I was very very disappointed. Oh parking is terrible. There is no parking for the hotel guest. You have to park on the street or in the parking garages. No passes issued at all. Good thing we stayed during the weekend because metered parking is free but you have to find a spot first. I feel bad for anyone staying during the weekdays. Just an absolutely horrible place to stay. I would not recommend it at all to anyone.

Michael, Thanks for your detailed evaluation of your not-so-perfect stay. Our hotel was built in 1922, at a time when room and bathroom size were less important than it is for today's travelers. Nevertheless, your comments are very important to us, they provide the opportunity for improvements where we can. Thanks again.

Small but Cozy

Posted Jun 30, 2014
Pros: The character of the building and location
Cons: Dusting and Kleenex in the room...
Location: Marina, Pier, lots of restaurants, Museums,
There was nothing stocked in the room. No tissue paper, etc. The bathroom sink area was very small and toilet area also. The restaurant attached to the hotel was great and it's a good place for walkers. I could see the bay and marina from my room. I live in a spacious condo on the beach, so this was a little different, but I'm glad I can say that I've stayed in a Boutique Hotel, was in town for the Pride Parade. Overall, I would recommend the Hotel if you don't mind small spaces.

Nice place downtown

Posted Jun 30, 2014
Pros: D├ęcor and friendly staff were very nice. Location was excellent.
Cons: The elevator doors don't open automatically. You had to push your floor button again when it stopped to escape. An ice machine on each floor be good
Clean, neat, and friendly staff. Room had everything you needed, but a bigger bed would have been nice if available. There was plenty of room for a king, but the room only had one queen.

Good location, Rooms need sanitizing, No Parking

Posted Jun 23, 2014
Pros: The location near the Mahaffey is great along with other downtown spots.
Cons: They need to steam clean the carpets and drapes in the room and totally sanitize the room to get rid of the odor.
Location: Great location to the Mahaffey Theater, Museums, restaurants, etc. The bay is beautiful nearby.
I loved the location for the price, but when I got to my room, it smelled like fresh animal urine. Even the maid winced when I asked her to come in and she sensed it immediately and got some spray, but it just masked the odor for a while. The room was comfortable enough, but for the price, I would have preferred a pleasant smelling room. I was in Room 209. Also, there is no parking at all at the hotel. You have to risk parking on the street or in a nearby parking deck, which is fine but not very convenient for loading and unloading your car.

Second Chance

Posted Jun 20, 2014
It is an older hotel that has some interesting character and is in a great location. The first time we stayed, we had plumbing drainage issues with the toilet and shower that were never completely fixed. I stayed there again for a business trip. Different room and exactly the same issues. Additionally, when I turned on the shower, ants started coming out if the tub drain. All of this happened late in the evening and I did not have the patience to deal with it but it was reported to the front desk when I checked out in the morning. The staff was pleasant. This would be slightly more tollerable if the room was less. This was not a great value.

Luther, thank you for taking the time to evaluate your stay with us. Our guests feedback is important to us, specially yours, since you stayed more than once. It is embarrassing that you had similar experience twice, but it makes us redouble our effort to keep this historic building in good shape and give our guests what they expect.

Retro, funky and definitely a cool place to stay!

Posted Jun 13, 2014
Pros: The Staff was extremely pleasant and helpful
Cons: It was perfect for me but I have simple taste and resonable expectations.
Location: Within Walking distance to everything in Downtown St. Pete
In town for a Rays game. It was a great place to stay for the game including the free trolley to the stadium. It's an easy walk to the Dali Museum, lots of great bars and the bay.

OK hotel in great location

Posted May 28, 2014
Pros: Location and free WiFi
Cons: More welcoming front desk and more info usually provided by a hotel
Location: Great downtown location - walk to the marina, museums, restaurants, nightlife, trolley. For a long weekend, no car is needed.
The price is right, especially with free room WiFi, although I would check out Hampton Inn which is also a good price but includes a pool and breakfast. The front desk staff was uneven - some were friendly and polite but one in particular wouldn't even look up and nod. The room housekeeper was lovely. The bathroom looked recently done and had a very nice shower. No amenities such as a box of tissues, the usual binder of places to see, eat, how to use the facilities (important for foreign guests). The TV was terrible and the ice machine and water dispenser didn't work. The AC made the room cool, but didn't take out the dampness. However, the location, price and WiFi make the hotel a good choice.

Great location. Accommodating staff. Spartan room -- no drawers, few hangars.
