Affordable motel on the beach
Posted Jan 16, 2013
-first the negative: dated rooms with little space. -And now the positive: about 300 feet from the sand, and another 500 to the ocean. every room is facing the ocean with great views. -will make it a point to come back next time im in florida, working mans paradise...

Would not stay there again.

Pros: Located on the beach
Cons: Beds & mold in tub.
Location: Good location
The room was outdated & small. It had no coffee pot, no microwave. We stayed two nights but no one came to tidy our rm. or leave fresh towels. There was mold in the tub & what looked to be mold in the corners of the pool. The room had not been vacumed very well before we got there, sand on carpet.

One of the last few old beachfront motels left...
Posted Jan 29, 2013
Pros: Location
Cons: It will be turned to condos...
Was the cheapest rate I could find on a short notice for the Memorial Day Weekend. The motel is old but just with a million dollar location right on the beach and all rooms face the beach. Its one of those few remaining old fashioned beach side motels which are slowly giving way to luxury condos all around Pinellas beaches. One hominous sign of the times though: There is a billboard announcing 12 luxury condos for this site. So come by and enjoy it before it gets razed

This place is a Dump!

Cons: See notes
Location: Great location, front of beach.
Location was fantastic, next to beach, and staff was friendly. Beyond that this is perhaps the second worst hotel I have ever been in, and I have traveled for business and pleasure all over the world for 40 years. We got there and were told we had been "upgraded" to a queen size bed efficiency. Half of the lights did not work, the sliding door to the bathroom was off its railing and could never be closed, the furniture was old and in very poor condition, the AC unit was very noisy and right above the bed, the room seem clean but we were hesitant to leave any clothes on furniture or walk barefoot on carpet, On top of this we went from ocean front to perhaps the only unit that while you could see the ocean it was not ocean front. One heck of an "upgrade". For $110/night and all this a very poor value.

This is mom and pop inn. No frills stay. We stayed in modest suite with a full fridge. Rooms look outdated but do able for a couples stay that is other for walks on beach. Pool was warm and clean. Staff was awesome.

Right on the beach

Pros: The view.
Cons: Personnel and cleanliness
Location: Close to John's Pass and right on the beach
The staff was so rude and unproffessional. Not just one person but two different people so that tells me that it's a management issue. The view was beautiful from the top floor but the place could have been so much cleaner and I wouldn't stay there again because of the staff. What a shame.

Pros: Nothing
Cons: Waiting due to short staff and old rooms.
Location: Location was only goo d thing
Short staff, hotel room was not ready until an hour and half later after check in time. Rooms and pool area are old and very outdated. Shower handles were broken. No wash clothes were left in room. Sunday front desk person was very nasty and unproffesional looking. Never again will I stay there.

Oldtime Coastal Life Low Cost

Pros: All rooms are beachfront. Step out your door and the ocean is a few feet away.
Cons: I spent hours laying in bed thinking how I would remodel if it were mine. Freshen it up all over with murals in the rooms.
Location: It is the best possible distance from everything wonderful to be had in the area.
I lived near by when I was younger and so glad I went back to visit. Are you happy one step above camping on the beach? Her you go! If you're looking for a pool, clean bed, air conditioning and a shower, here ya go. If you love spending all of your time out enjoying the Beautiful Beach, John's Pass, Candy Kitchen's Homemade Ice Cream and everything wonderful this is perfect! Be sure to stop at West Wind Tackle. Tom will set you up with a charter on his own little boat or gear to fish on the beach. After a decade unseen, he is still the epitome of beach living.

Motel was built in the fifties and hasn't been remodeled since. But step out your door and you are on the beach. Location could not have been better.
