Over priced tourist trap

Posted Jul 27, 2015
Pros: Servers at the restaurants and bars where outstanding.
Cons: Gift shops open till 9pm Free parking Do away with the resort fees.
Location: Plenty to do nearby but they want to keep you on site.
The best part of the hotel was the staff, they where knowledgeable and courteous except the maid. Gift shops closed way to early. They held private parties where you could not enjoy some of the amenities. Maid woke us up the last day to see when we where checking out so she could schedule her room cleaning. Many places on St Pete Beach that are just as nice and not as pricy. I have never hade to pay for parking or wifi while staying in other hotels unlike Tradewinds who charges for these and other things.

On the beach

Posted Jul 24, 2015
Our gulf front room was clean and roomy, but bathroom a bit small, balcony very tiny! Liked in-room microwave and fridge, especially since food and drink VERY pricey ($3.75 for a soda?) Views were spectacular! Very crowded resort, with lots of families with teens/kids. Since we had extended family with some small children in our group, it was okay, but we definitely would not come here for a quiet couples getaway. No easy access to beach from main lobby or center courtyard. Limited parking. With exception of one very rude valet parking person, every staff member, from front desk to housekeeping was friendly, professional and helpful. $35 a day "resort amenity"fee was for things that many hotels provide free, such as self-park and wi-fi access, plus some kid activities. Enjoyed our stay for the extended family out of town wedding planned, but rooms and public areas could use some updating for prices charged.

It's was "ok"

Posted Jul 24, 2015
The smell that came out of the sinks and tub after you turned on the water was mortifying! The bathroom had so mildew and a "smell" I couldn't shake off. It poured the 3 days we were there and was still charged "resort fees". The place has lots of activities to keep you busy but like I said, we didn't get a chance to do anything.

Too many issues for Big price tag

Posted Jul 22, 2015
Valet lost car for 30+ minutes...Shower didn't drain...Hour long maintenance issues caused missed dinner reservations...Time share sales people bothered us several times attempting to make a sale...5 days in a row cable wad out with message that said weak signal...Was asked to take a seat at one of the restaurants, only to leave after being ignored for 15 or 20 minutes. All around bad stay, which was disappointing since we had stayed in the past with much better service.

Pros: Location
Location: Close to my business meetings
Rate includes numerous amenities for kids which adults should not have to pay for. Staff failed to clean room one night.

Great place for families!

Posted Jul 20, 2015
We had a group stay at the Tradewinds for a family wedding. Booked five rooms. Rooms we clean, and roomy enough. Liked the kitchenette with microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, and a small amount of kitchenware. Five small pools gave plenty of options. Huge beach with lots of cabanas. With the exceptions of one unconcerned young person at the beach, every staff person was friendly, attentive, and responsive to our requests. Quite pricey for food, drinks and any extras not included in the $35 "resort amenity" fee, which, as far as I could tell, didn't include much. But overall, we were happy with our stay, the staff, and our gulf front room. Lots of families and kids there, so if you are looking for a nice, quiet couples getaway, this might not be your best choice. For our large family group, this was great!

Nothing Special

Posted Jul 20, 2015
Pros: Room was clean in Breckenridge bldg. Staff was nice and helpful. Kids program was good, though my daughter wouldn't participate.
Cons: No A/C in hallways was unacceptable. Pools have mildew and need to be remodeled. Flying Bridge bar/grill needs to be cleaned and updated badly.
Location: We went out to eat at Bubba Gumps, which was a highlight of our trip. About 10-15 minutes away.
Older resort on direct beachfront. Our room and bathroom were clean in Breckenridge bldg. The hallways were not air conditioned and were muggy/musty. They try to keep everyone engaged with the activities. Great if your kids will participate and the weather is nice. The pools are basic, without frills, and need new tile desperately. The mildew just killed it for me. No lifeguards. The Flying Bridge bar/dining was outdated and not well cleaned. I couldn't bring myself to order food while I was sitting there. On site Beef O'Brady's restaurant was good for the family.

Great hotel with a lot of night life.

Posted Jul 19, 2015
Had a wonderful time. . Security everywhere at night very pleasant but felt vey safe. Concierge front desk bartenders And employees at restaurants front desk all very friendly. House cleaners that walked around and maintainence hard to talk to and couldn't direct you anywhere. I do think food overpriced quite a bit and ESP soft drinks. For what you pay to stay there and "resort fee" I think fountain drinks should be free or at least a lot cheaper.

Beach was the best part!

Posted Jul 18, 2015
For room that says sleeps 10 comfortably, this was not the room and we only had 6. The layout was not favorable for that many people. The weather was awful so we had to spend more time in room than wanted and neighbors were not very friendly! The room was fine for one family but not two!
