Friendly Hotel, Superb LocationPosted Nov 9, 2014
Pros: Location and friendliness
Cons: The bathrooms are a bit '60's but clean.
Location: Central to all tourist hotspots
Different to an English hotel as it's on the 4th floor in a multi occupied building. We thought it was great, very clean and tidy, exceptionally helpful staff. As for the location it was great - walking distance to all the main things you go to St Petersburgh for. Would we go again? Too right we would.

Fantastic locationPosted Nov 6, 2014
Pros: It's loctation and the friendliness
Location: St Isaac's Cathedral, The Hermitage, Russian Orthodox Cathedral and Church of the Spilt Blood
We did wonder where we'd arrived at first because the hotel is located on the 4th floor of what appears to be an apartment of office block. However it was very clean and tidy, the staff were really helpful and recommended a lovely steak house and gave us wine vouchers to use. It was so centrally located that we could walk everywhere!

Lille men godt hotelPosted Jul 2, 2014 on Hotels.com

Location: Zentrums- und U-Bahn-nah und damit alles fußläufig schnell erreichbar
Reisezeitraum 28.05. - 01.06.

Front Desk Very HelpfulPosted May 25, 2014 on Hotels.com
Enjoyed our stay! Two couples in 2 rooms for 4 nights. Rooms small by American standards, 1 shower very small. But the ladies at the front desk were beyond helpful, answered every question, ordered taxis, gave directions, offered discount cards at local restaurants, spoke very good English. Breakfast plentiful and good variety. Tea and coffee available all day in breakfast room.

Location, location, location, and staffPosted Oct 13, 2013
Pros: As above, location, staff, filtered water easily available for free, business computer availability
Cons: Breakfast variety, sound-proofing, and TV station selection for English-speakers
Location: A short walk to St. Isaac's and the Hermitage, as well as to the launch for the hydro-foil to Peterhof, and a bit farther away to other sites.
We were very pleased with our stay at Herzen House. It was an easy walk to many of the key tourist sites in St Petersburg, the staff were very courteous and welcoming and spoke English! We used their free computer every day to check our messages and confirm museum schedules, etc. The breakfast variety was sufficient for our family, though our kids now say that they weren't happy with only two choices of cereal, but we were only there for three breakfasts. I imagine if we had been staying for a week it might have gotten old. The mattresses were super basic, but did the job - we all slept well and had no problems falling asleep. Only problem with sleep was you can hear everything from the floor above and rooms nearby, plus the hall. Am guessing that is why they put us at the end of the hall because we have two small kids, and we did our best to keep them quiet to not disturb other visitors. We loved that they had a water cooler where we could fill our bottles periodically throughout our stay. Only disappointment for our kids was that we had read that they had some English-language TV stations, but only one we found was CNN, which did not interest them. That said, there was a lovely channel with Russian dance that we watched quite often, it was nice to have exposure to their culture in our down time! Only other comment is if you are arriving by train from Moscow, like we did, the walk is pretty far with small kids, but a nice intro to Nevsky Prospect!

God ValuePosted Sep 18, 2013 on Hotels.com
Nothing in this area is cheap but compared to others I think it is a good value.
