Great location!

Posted Dec 9, 2013 on Hotels.com
Loved the central location of this hotel! The rooms were nice and clean. The bathroom floor was heated so it was nice a nice feature during winter months. The mattress is not comfy though... One thing was frustrating - the front doors were really heavy to open and nobody helped us with our bags. Thank goodness I wasn't alone, my coworker helped with the door while I dragged my bags inside the hotel.

Nice staff, hotel, questionnable bathwater

Posted Nov 2, 2013
Pros: Great location, staff
Cons: The greenish bathwater
Location: PERFECT - 15 minutes walk to top tourist sites
Your Review Radisson Royal Hotel, St. Petersburg This hotel was very well located, had lovely staff and nice rooms. I did, however, have an issue with the light green bathwater. I knew that I shouldn't drink the water in the city but was surprised by the actual color of the bathwater, which made my face break out in a rash. I talked to the staff, and they first asked me to run the water for five or more minutes to see if that helped. It didn't. They then said that was "normal" for the city and assured me that their water was tested regularly for safety. They even said they filtered the incoming water. So, I don't know if that really is normal for hotels in the area, but when I checked out the bathwater of a higher end hotel, it didn't have that green tint. They were very nice and concerned, but there was obviously nothing they could do. Otherwise, it was a very nice hotel ---i just used bottled water to wash my face and took quick showers.

Radisson Royal a very expensive 3 star hotel

Posted Sep 25, 2013 on Hotels.com
Dingy room with little natural light as overlooked light well. However everything worked well and it was clean. Staff tried hard to please. Breakfast very expensive and poor - better value and cheaper at other more expensive neighbouring hotel. There is a bar and small fitness centre - no pool. 30 min walk to Winter Palace along pretty busy noisy road. Certainly not 5 star. More espensive front rooms available. A miserable hotel atmosphere (not the staff though!).

Very nice stay yet....

Posted Sep 20, 2013
I am a Russian woman living in the US for the past 10 years and have a lot of traveling experience . I chose this hotel based on the location and also bc I stayed in Radisson in other cities. I never regret my choice , although it was quite disturbing we had no wifi in our room( only in the lobby ),also when I booked this hotel I wanted to make sure there were two beds , yet , we walked into the room with one bed and I repeated my request during my check in. Other then that , hotel was very comfortable , clean and smily staff :) . I would recommend it to everyone , but be mindful of a distance to Hermitage and a few other sightseeing , it would still take a good hour walk to get there.

Dear Svetlana, I appreciate you have taken your time to leave a feedback from your recent stay in our hotel. I do regret that we had no possibility to provide you with two beds upon arrival to the hotel. Let me hope that this situation did not spoil your impression of the visit of our beautiful city on Neva River and we will have a chance to change your opinion to a better one in not too distant future. Please contact me directly regarding your next booking and I will make everything possible to make your stay as comfortable as possible. With kind regards, John Losasso General Manager

Poor value for money

Posted Aug 26, 2013
Pros: Location
Cons: Rooms and hallways are a bit depressing
Except for location hotel itself is so-so, not justifying the high price tag it demands. For one day stay it's ok, but there are better hotels in town in the same category.

Brooklyn family

Pros: The staff is very helpful and friendly , the service was very fast in responding to any requests
Cons: We booked a room for three, the third person our teenage son. They only provided a cot which wasn't big enough or very comfortable.
Location: Dostoyevsky House museum, Nevskii Prospect for shopping, Fontanki canal cruise
We were on a family vacation in Russia touring the most beautiful city in the world, St Petersburg. The Radisson is in a great location, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful.

Clean efficient and friendly central hotel in St P

Posted Jul 22, 2013
Pros: Friendly staff
Cons: Extremely heavy smell of cigar or cigarette smoke in our room one evening out of the 7 we were there
Location: Perfect locati0on for visiting all the sights of St Petersburg
The hotel staff were friendly and welcoming from the start and helped whenever we needed asistance in a friendly and warm way. The was particuarly the case in the reception area and the bar. The staff in the breakfast room were not so friendly but they were efficient. We enjoyed very clean and well ordered rooms and an empty fitness and sauna room which no one else appeared to visit. Our one complaint was that on returning to one of our two rooms one evening after dinner there was an extremely strong smell of cigar or cigarette smoke in the room as if someone had smoked a cigarette in there. We had to open the window wide overnight to get rid of the smell. We never experienced this again and could not work out whether this was because a member of staff had smoked in there or whether the air conditioning went on the blink. Anyway it did not detract from the stay but was disconcerting as there was no other smell of smoke on the whole floor. We had made up our minds to report it if it reoccurred but it did not. Overall I would recommend the hotel to friends and families wanting a central, clean and friendly place to stay from where it was easy to visit all the sights.

Weekend in St. Petersburg

Posted Jul 3, 2013
Pros: The location.
Cons: The rooms and other facilities need to be refurbished.
Location: The location was perfect.
I would not consider the Radison a 5 Star Hotel. The rooms were pretty small and worn-out. The breakfast area was not very nice. With that said, the hotel staff was very friendly. All in all we enjoyed St. Petersburg.
