“Hotels are about little things - this one isn't”
This hotel staff is about getting extra money from you. Other stuff is fairly OK, but only that much - nothing that can impress.
“Predictable & Reliable Marriot Hotel Quality”
Very predictable Marriott-type of Quality. Very nice location. Concierge service was very helpful; they organized my theater tickets, museums, spa, etc.
“Great!”
Great location! Close to absolutely everything you may want to do in st.Petersburg. I am a native, but live in USA, and trust me when I tell you, you can't get a better location for the money. My only 2 complaints: the bathtub was extremely high and hard to get into ( and both me and my husband are under 40), and all the windows in the hotel face the inside of the hotel, no natural light in the rooms, making it extra hard on a jet lagged traveler (me). Service is exceptional!!! Better than at any US hotels we've ever stayed at!
“Can't wait to go back”
I cannot think of a better place to stay. The hotel itself is great, not too big but with all the amenities. The service was always helpful and pleasant. We were given an upgrade at check-in to a wonderful large room with a separate sitting area and a bathroom bigger than my first apartment. An excellent breakfast buffet that carried us through to dinner. And the location is fantastic, just by St. Isaacs Cathedral and near the Hermitage. BTW, they have a special deal with the Hermitage that lets you skip the endless lines and get tickets at a special office. That alone is worth staying there.
“Best Choice and Excellent location!!!”
Excellent Hotel with all the American Comfort you expected from the Renaissance. The hotel is next to the St. Isaacs Cathedral and Square. All the tourist attractions and places you want to visit are walking distance. The hotel looks and feels very new. The rooms are well decorated and feel very comfortable. The staff is helpfull and attentive. I think this is one of the best choice and value for your money considering the quality of the hotel and the location, so it´s worth to pay it if you can afford it.
“Perfect home base in St. Petersburg!”
The Renaissance Saint Petersburg Hotel was the perfect hotel for our first visit to Russia. I had very little Russian language under my belt so the extremely friendly English speaking hotel staff was a fantastic aid to making our stay memorable. The room was excellent and the bed was very comfortable. When we had a small issue with noisy neighbors, the hotel managed to move us to an equally excellent room even though the hotel was completely full. The included breakfasts were excellent as well. The wide variety of the food on the buffet and quick service was fantastic. The hotel also had a nice bar/restaurant on the 6th floor with outside seating where a beautiful view of St. Issac's Cathedral could be seen. Prices in this bar were a bit on the high side but it was worth the extra cost to enjoy a view of the city during the "White Nights". The hotel also had musicians playing in the lobby on several of the evenings while we were there. These were symphony class musicians of the highest quality. I particularly enjoyed the harpist one evening. To be sitting 10 feet away from such an incredible musician was outstanding. The hotel also had excellent taxi and tour guide access. I was a bit worried that our scheduled tours would not have the Renaissance on their pick up schedule, but this hotel was well located with easy access to all transportation and a two minute walk from St. Isaac's. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
“Comfortable overall, but watch out for the costs.”
A good experience overall, but some things were a bit disappointing. The room was nice and the bed comfortable. However, water pressure was not the best. This is the only hotel I've ever stayed in where same day laundry service was a 50% surcharge. If you can have your laundry in by 8-9:00am, I would think they could get it back to you the same day. Also, the food/beverage costs seemed to be a fair amount more expensive than my previous visit. Finally, my pet peeve with all 4 and 5 star hotels is charging to internet service in your room. If less expensive hotels can offer this service free of charge, you know this charge is just a extra revenue item at a hotel you already pay a premium for.
“It was fabulous!”
We were scared to be in such an exotic city, but felt immediately at home. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Their English was excellent. They took such good care of us; arranged for taxis, tour guides, everything. I recommend it so highly to anybody who wants a "home" while in St. Petersburg.
“Just excellent”
The hotel is not the cheapest but definitely worth of its rates. Very good and helpful service, speaking English is not a problem, and very good location - actually walking distance to all major points of interest (Newskij Prospect, Hermitage, others). Canvas restaurant in this hotel serves excellent food (with home made pasta) however prices are not low (especially if you order wine).
“Great Hotel”
The hotels rooms were clean and spacious. The hotel is only a few blocks from the Hermitage and right across the street from St. Isaac's Cathedral. I would highly recommend the hotel to anyone.
