“Honeymoon Paradise”
Wonderful resort!! Quiet, relaxing, and gorgeous!! Great for a honeymoon or getaway from stress.
“Planning our next stay!!!!”
We had an amazing time at The Crane! We were hesitant to book here after some of the air conditioning complaints but I'm glad we ignored those because we would have missed out on an experience of a lifetime!!! The Crane is a little secluded but this makes the experience - beautiful resort, gorgeous beach, and exceptional staff. We will definitely be back! The restaurants are pricey but comparable to other places on the island. We went to the grocery store and used our full kitchen in the room. I would recommend renting a car to explore the island. Barbados and The Crane were beyond my expectations and I was sad to have to leave!!
“Great Resort”
The room was great and resort is very nice and larger than others in Barbados. The location is a bit secluded but taxis are always available. Only one restaurant was open for lunch on the resort which got old. Zen is a great restaurant and the Italian place was good. The wi-fi worked near the lobby but did not work in our room. We had a suite with the plunge pool, the plung pool is good for looks but didn't use it a lot as it was cold. The balcony was great with a great pool and the room overall was wonderful.
“secluded”
It is a beautiful property and the pools and rooms are wonderful. The food was nothing special in the restaurants. Taxi rides were $30-$40 US one way to other parts of the island. The beach was incredible as were the people who worked there. It's a good place to go to get away from it all. The views were also awesome.
“Nice acccommodations, needs better service”
Locked out our room for an hour and a half due to dead battery. Room service usually got the order wrong and didn't correct it. Grounds were lovely, but located a half hour drive from almost everything. Can't snorkel at the hotel beach - the Atlantic side of the island (East) has very rough waves.
“Crane Resort in Barbados”
Positives The Hotel is AWESOME!!! Prices in the general store and restaurants are fair. The grounds are huge and beautiful and the beach is great. Downsides Not close to Bridgetown or any other restaurants Must take an elevator or stairs to beach. (Elevator was not always working) Long flight to Barbados from Miami. (3 hrs)
“The Crane is heavenly, but not perfect...”
My title to this review certainly conflicts, but let me tell you about The Crane. This was my second stay, so I was not overly concerned about the bad reviews. Here's the good, I mean awesome, because what's good about The Crane blows away all others. Good: The furnishings and over all look of the room is beautiful, spacious, well appointed. I even splurged for the plunge pool and loved it. I got one of the corner rooms so my plunge pool was hexagon shaped and I felt like Cleopatra. The kitchen is clean, has everything you need, cute. The beach is stunning. Probably my favorite in the World and I've been everywhere. The food in the restaurants is good and fresh. Bad: The other reviews were correct, the AC doesn't work, HOWEVER, the trade winds blow hard and kept our room so comfortable (with every window open) that I never complained. The gardens and overall appearance could be better maintained. It is such a beautiful place that I'm disappointed that The Crane spends so much money on expansion with less attention to the beauty they have. Also, the attitude and overall service is not what I'm used to in other parts of the World or even Carribean Islands. I'm used to more pleasant and attentive service. It wasn't awful, they just don't care. I'm not looking for friends though, so whatever, not a big deal. Overall: It's a paradise and I'll be back. The good far outweighs the bad.
“Nice for the price”
Too far away from downtown. Not much is within walking distance.
“Beautiful hotel - but don't count on AC”
This hotel was unique and beautiful. We had a 1 bdrm w/ p. pool. Loved the character of our room! P pool very cold! Room and grounds kept up well. Beautiful beach too! Issue was we did not have AC for the entire 8 days we were there. It was so hot! Had read reviews about AC issues so we did not bring to mgmt attn 'til 2nd day when it still wasn't working. They could only offer to move us to garden view rm next to construction. Big diff from rm we were in and wanted. We decided to stay on condition they would move us to comp rm if avail. Never avail so stayed w/o AC whole time. They did offer us some $ comp though. Also gave us fans and with all windows open it did cool off some. For as hot as it was, it was not enough to make us move to garden view room- so take that for what it's worth. If they could fix AC issues, this would be such a great hotel! All else was great: entire hotel kept up well (which I like); service very nice but slow sometimes by pools- almost faster to go to bar yourself; beautiful beach and location on cliff. It is far from stuff, but that's what we wanted. We rented a car which allowed us to see alot of the island. Location of Crane worked for us b/c we wanted to go to S and E sides of island and it's in btwn for that. Didn't eat at on-site restaurants (we had car so we explored) except for Italian rest & Carriage House. Both were pretty good- would eat at them again. On-site mkt a plus! Recommend catamaran tour offered by cool runnings thru hotel.
“Would go back but only for a couple of days.”
This is our second visit to the hotel. The first experience was much better. Our air conditioning didn't work the whole week. We were offered 2 portable air conditioners on the 3 day after several calls and some visits to the front desk to speak to a manager. The grounds and staff are great. The location is off the beaten track so a car is recommended. The bus goes right by the hotel and there are taxis. Would I go back? Maybe.
