“Bologna Bay Resort”
Great staff, older facility.
“Iggies Bar was the best part”
This was a great place to stay for a quick layover but not a full week. The beach was very small and rocky, however, Iggies's bar was a blast and the hotel resturant drinks were great. Look for Gary at Iggies- lots of fun.
“Fun Beach Side Hotel”
Bolongo is well known. Last 5 days of a 10 day trip, we stayed at Bolongo. We booked a cottage on the beach. The room may have been a little older than the others, but the room is not Bolongo's asset. The Bay is fantastic. The food, although expensive, was fabulous. They have a free scuba class that is available to all guests. The snorkling equiptment and ocean (toys) are free to all guests. The staff was very nice and the beach is medium size but nice. Saw 3 weddings/receptions while we were there. Swam with sea turtles and sting rays. The bay has a nice ecosystem to explore. They also offer dive adventures, snorkle adventures, and boat tours. Lazy during the day and a party at night, but the party is well away from the rooms. Reasonably close to downtown and equally close to Coki Beach/Sea Life Park (Clearest Snorkeling and large hand fed fish). Did not go all inclusive. Meals for two ranged around $20.00 for breakfast, $45.00 for lunch, and $60-$80 for dinner, but that was with appetizers and the food was fantastic. There are plenty items for a tighter budget. Gotta try the rootbeer. Better than IBC. Go easy on the Rum. Bartenders can be a little heavy handed (even at our other resort).
“Would definately go back again !!!”
We had a Spectacular Trip. The staff was great from the Hotel staff to everyone at Iggies on the beach. They make you feel as if they are truly glad to have you as a guest and do their very best to make your stay a great one. The sunset sail and that staff was awesome as well.
“Wonderful wonderful wonderful”
My daughter and I stayed at Bolongo Bay for a week. We absolutely loved it and can't wait to go back. Vernita, Viola, Sharon, McCoy, Anthony, Matt, Joleen, and all of the other staff members at Bolongo and the Heavenly Daze boat were fabulous. We had a great vacation and made memories that will last a lifetime! I'd highly recommend Bolongo Bay to anyone. Our room was clean and we were 3 steps off of the beach. Fabulous views. Couldn't have asked for more from a casual vacation.
“Already saving to go back”
This was our first trip to the Caribbean and we had an amazing time! We were hesitant after some of the reviews, but we took a chance because we wanted a smaller, quiet hotel with the private beach...a little off the beaten path. That is exactly what Bolongo is. Yes it is older, but the ocean aws right out our door, quiet private beach so we could always get a chair, and the staff was so nice! There were all worts of beach toys and snorkeling things to use also, so that was handy too. We didn't have our kids because they are still little, but there was plenty of stuff to keep them entertained if they were at lease about 10 or 12. The food was also wonderful at both Iggies (our fav open air place with live bands on the weekend, great drinks, and super staff!) The Lobster Grille was more expensive and not as relaxed but def worth it, because the food was delicious! Overall, Bolongo is an older place, but def has character and we loved it! It is a bit away from the airpoort, downtown and Red Hook, but that is what we like about it. There is a taxi there at all times, and if not the belhop calls for one right away, so you can get a taxi in minutes to wherever you want to go. My husband and I had the relaxing time that we went to enjoy, and out of all the places we've traveled, the Virgin Islands jumped right to the top and we can't wait to go back! Thanks for a great stay!
“Good beach, bad rooms”
The beach, beach toys and available excursions were all nice. The beach front room had small ants in the bathroom, door shutters that would not completely close and an inadequate air conditioner. Despite their claims no internet available except in the lobby area. The restaurants have pretty good food but the menu selections are too limited. The main restaurant has an elevated section that is carpeted and invested with fleas and nobody seemed to care when we mentioned it. This place is pretty low cost and there are many more run down resorts than this one. If they invested a bit in the rooms and restaurant it would be easy for them to increase their rates 20% or so.
“Never Would Go Again”
We went with expectations that the hotel would be nice and quaint. It was just ok but the kicker was, we did not have electricity for the majority of our short stay. We had family staying at a different hotel about 3 miles away - a bigger hotel - and they had generator back up electricty. So they had it on the entire time there were rolling black outs on the island. It made for a uncomfortable night. So we called Expedia and wanted to get a refund because we went to our family's hotel and were able to sleep on their pull out couch. Not an ideal vacation in St.Thomas - but would rather have air conditioning and hot water then not. We did get refunded - so that was good.
“Bolongo Bay Rocks!”
Relaxing and mellow. Such nice folks and great snorkeling. Iggies beach grill has great food, drinks and so much fun!
“Perfect fun hotel”
From check in to leaving, the people were very nice especially Simon. Greeted you when you came in, helped you get a Taxi anywhere and helped out with any other need. We had an oceanfront hotel room and it was so worth the extra money per night. The hotel is right on the ocean and the pool has a bar right there where you can swim up and order a drink. In the gift shop, there's awesome people like Laurie who can suggest things to do while you're there. I loved the 1/2 day swimming with the turtles on the Heavenly Days tours. It was so worth every penny, we saw turtles, sting rays, and tons more. The only thing was bothersome at the hotel (and anywhere else on the virgin islands) were the mosquitoes but every restaurant(which is outdoor) provided bug spray to guests. If we went back to the Virgin Islands, we stay here again.
