Run downPosted Feb 21, 2014
Stayed 8 years ago since then very run down. Room over priced lights didn't work sliding door broken. Our friends window fell out of the casing on her. Restaurant extremely slow took over an hour to get food at breakfast and dinner. Last time we stayed the staff was excellent. Very disappointed. Phone in room was broken and no hot water in master bath so there sound like 735.00 worth for one night!! Lovely huh......

On the beachPosted Feb 21, 2014
We cant wait to go back! The resort has 2 excellent restaurants and I would definitely recommend all inclusive as there is not much else around unless you taxi. Both restaurants are open air which is wonderful, you always have a incredible view. The staff is awesome, helpful and fun. The rooms are "beachy" a tad out dated but who goes to St. Thomas to hang in the room? Seriously, its totally fine. We went on the resorts sail boat to Buck Island to snorkel and swim with the turtles, would definitely recommend this! The crew was great and offered open bar/snacks on the way back. I just got home and already wanting to go back to this resort! A definite GO!

Relax and enjoy!Posted Feb 20, 2014
Pros: Location, staff friendly and helpful, food dynamite.
Cons: Perfection for us - not ultra-modern but prescription for peace, tranquility, beauty.
Location: A few short paces to the bay, catmaran outings a joy, some fun entertainment at Iggie's, Lobster Grille food and service outstanding.
First rate experience to relax and enjoy the Caribbean, the very definition of peace.

Great location with incredible staffPosted Feb 18, 2014
Pros: The hotel is in a beautiful location and we loved the private beach.
Cons: The beds are a little uncomfortable and the rooms need to be updated.
Location: Decent restaurants included in the all-inclusive and everywhere was easily accessible by taxi. Mr. Mulley became a favorite with his punctual pick-up.
My mom and I have gone on a mother/daughter trip every year for the past eight years (since my 30th birthday). This was our first time on St. Thomas and used Trip Advisor to find this resort. It is on a small beach that is very quiet and private. It was incredibly peaceful. The highlight of our stay was Laura, the concierge in the the gift shop. She truly made everything happen for us. She arranged a phenomenal private boat tour with three other guests where we stumbled on a turtle hatching with over 80 baby turtles that was absolutely perfect! She helped my dad get a dozen yellow roses delivered to my mom on Valentine's Day on very short notice. She arranged massages with the hotel's very talented massage therapist Hilda for mom and me. She recommended fabulous restaurants and was just a joy to see and talk with each day of our stay! The rooms were relatively clean, but not very modern. This is all made up for by the friendliness of the staff and the proximity to the beach and many other activities. The sunset cruise is very relaxing and there are many water toys (rafts, kyaks, snorkel gear, etc) for your use. The beach is a little rocky so I suggest water shoes. Overall, this was a very relaxing spot for the two of us to vacation. There were few kids and everything was fun without being formal. We will be back!

Overpriced, Overrated and UndermaintainedPosted Jan 28, 2014
Pros: We did not suffer any diseases as a result of our stay.
Cons: Short of knocking the place down, and starting over, not much
Location: The thing to do nearby is to find another hotel.
To cap off a week on a bareboat in the BVI, the thought was for our group of six to spend a quality night in a nice resort. Guided by the 4.1 rating and the relatively high 4 star price of a one night stay, we elected to stay at Bolongo Bay. Big mistake. Should have read the negative reviews of the facility first. They matched our experience. The only way one could give this place a 4.1 rating is if they were rating the wrong facility or were plied with alcohol. This makes sense since the only redeeming thing about the place was that all the drinks had a heavy pour of alcohol. Rooms were in horrible shape, built in the 1960s -never updated, rusty shower and bath fixtures, mold covered walls, giant stained tile and floors. Peeling paint in rooms. Doors falling off the nasty looking kitchenette cabinets. Rusty A/C units so bad and loud- had to turn them off. The attached photo is at the entrance to one of our rooms. Nice! Mattresses were the kind you see advertised on street corners for $40- horrible. The grounds were equally poor. Weeds every where. Just an old and sad place. Went to the manager to complain- sorry- no one could find her! Do yourself a favor and stay away- far away.

Friendly, small, right on the beach, food A++!!Posted Jan 25, 2014
Pros: Small size, not a lot of people, amazing food, wonderful all-inclusive package, friendly, amazing customer service!!
We loved this resort!! The all-inclusive is a must. When they say "all-inclusive" they mean it. All the drinks we wanted were included. The meals at the Lobster Grill or at Iggies were included. Whatever entrée you wanted - lobster, steak, shrimp - definitely did not go hungry. They know what they are doing with the food. It was amazing!! Tips included also. You have the option of tipping extra and you will want to! We had a beachfront room. We walked right out on to the beach. A little ways one way was the Lobster Grill and bar side pool. A little ways in the opposite direction was Iggies bar and restaurant...everything close. Small atmosphere. We went on their catamaran to go snorkeling with the turtles and then on the sunset cruise on the same catamaran, Heavenly Days. Both of those cruises were small & not crowded. Bring your water shoes. They are a must when swimming on the beach. Snorkeling was fun and they had lots of other non-motorized watersports included in our stay. Jet skies were available for a small charge. This small resort is owned by a family...3rd generation of customer service. They develop a relationship with you while you are there. This is definitely the place to go if you want relaxing and quiet. We will be returning!!!

Location: Location was good, especially if you don't intend to travel far. If you do, a taxi is required. The beach was great especially closer to Iggie's.
The accommodations were ok. The hotel was outdated, but fairly clean. Showers were exceptionally small so a bit of a challenge. Surprisingly the staff was not friendly, but actually think it is the culture of the people on St. Thomas.
