Peace and quiet with luxury

Posted May 12, 2015
Pros: The staff is top notch. The location is fantastic. Enjoyed the sunset views looking west toward Saint Thomas.
Cons: Nothing, everything was fantastic.
Location: A rental vehicle, can be rented on site, is a must to really enjoy all that Saint John has to offer.
Stayed at Caneel for one week. Room on Hawksnest beach. Enjoyed the peace and quiet at Caneel. Great staff, great location, great food and fantastic drinks. If you enjoy these things, Caneel should be at the top of your list. On the other hand, if you are looking for a Sandals type resort, this is not the place for you. Caneel is all about peace and quiet along with luxury.

Pretty, relaxing but lacks service

Posted May 10, 2015
Pros: The beaches, trails for hiking, wildlife (donkey's deer) made the atmosphere nice and relaxing. Breakfast was included - big plus!
Cons: Service was not great. Staff was often put off. Itinerary was never put in room, although promised. No one explained services.
Location: Downtown nearby. Ferry to St Thomas and BVI.
The grounds and beaches are beautiful. There are seven beaches and something to appease every taste. Wild donkeys and deer roam the property which is beautiful to watch whether you are taking a walk or sitting on your porch. The rooms are large and comfortable. There are plenty of events to keep you busy is you wanted to take trips, snorkel or go to the BVI.

Great resort

Posted May 5, 2015
Pros: Facilities, service
Location: Resort is pretty self contained, with all necessary amenities. Car rental available on site, but could be slightly cheaper. Very convenient.
Wonderful time. Amazing resort with private beaches. Highly recommended. Will be back.

Perfect blend of comfort & nature

Posted Mar 8, 2015
This was the best beach vacation my wife & I have ever taken. The rooms were comfortable & private, the beaches were serene, and the staff friendly. Snorkeling right from the beach was great, and hiking trails in the national park were another option if you were tired of swimming. The restaurants were good with Zozo's being the best by far. Avoid the Turtle Beach restaurant for dinner unless you are looking for a country club feel with a long wait for service. Cruz Bay has plenty of good options as well.

The Best that St Johns has to Offer

Posted Feb 19, 2015 on Hotels.com
We went to Caneel Bay for a quick get-a-way. Stayed 4 nights. The Caneel Bay Resort cannot be commended enough for its array of beautifully kept beaches which are never over-crowded. Overall the hotel is beautifully maintained; although the bathrooms are in need of updating. Other than that, the accommodations are excellent. All of Caneel's restaurants are excellent but expensive. Most important is to bring your patience because after ordering, it's a very long wait to get your food. That said, all of Caneels' staff members are very helpful, courteous and try to ensure your every need is met. Make sure you make your reservations to eat at ZoZo's at Caneel, but reservations need to be made well before your arrival in the Caribbean. The earlier the better. Overall, I give Caneel Bay 4.5 stars.

We'll be back!

Posted Jan 18, 2015
Pros: The hotel and grounds invite you to relax. There are no phones nor TVs in the rooms which was just fine with us.
Cons: I would like to see a better coffee maker in the room.
Location: It's all about location and this is the best thing about being there. Also you can catch a cab and get to Cruz Bay within 5 minutes.
We went to Caneel Bay Jan. 9-16. We loved it here! You must go to the afternoon tea and to the Managers Reception. You'll meet other guests there as well as the manager and some staff. All of the personnel here are very, very friendly and helpful. If you have any questions at all just ask anyone.

Lay back and enjoy. Everything you need is on the property. The most besutiful, not crowded beaches you have every seen with great snorkeling. Turtles everywhere. Be aware there are no phones or tvs in the rooms. Good wifi but how anout ditching your computer for your stay. The staff is wonderful.
