Not happy about room being so far away from activities. We did not have adjoining rooms with our friends as requested 7 months prior & requested again 2 wks. Prior. We were placed in the maintenance area. Lot of noise. Terrible view of water. We did enjoy pool areas & beach

Nice hotel. No washcloths. Not enough parking.

Posted Jan 14, 2015
Pros: Views, beach.
Cons: Access to the beach. Consistency of housekeeping. Needs an airport shuttle.
Location: Ziplining is fantastic. The hotel beach is great, but the sand flies (fleas?) at some other beaches are terrible.
Beautiful beach, great views, convenient to take the water shuttle to town. Lots of stairs to and from beach and dock area. Rooms were clean, but we received one washcloth the whole time we were there. Housekeeping said that they didn't have any more. Sounds petty, but it's annoying. You almost have to rent a car if you want to do more activities on the island, but there's not enough parking (and get a small vehicle if you want to fit into a space).

Great hotel

Posted Jan 12, 2015
I went to st thomas during a weekend and had a great time! The hotel has a great view. I had a problem during check in because i asked for a king bes in my reservation and they gave me double beds. I was pretty upset and after nagging for a while they changed the room. Overall, it was a nice hotel. Great location. Nice restaurants near by!

We had a great time. The service, hotel and views were great. Love the boat shuttle to town. Taxis were always ready to take you where you wanted to go! Can't wait to go next year.

Spent New Year's at Morning Star

Posted Jan 5, 2015
Pros: The setting was beautiful. The hotel is located up on a cliff and the Morning Star resort is on the beach.
Cons: The hotel overall is tired. The AC units are loud and go on and off quite a bit, and there is a weird blinking light that keeps you up all night.
Location: Setting is beautiful, but the best part was taking a ferry from Red Hook to St. John.
We spent four days at the Morning Star resort, which is located on the beach as part of the Marriott Frenchman's Reef property. The setting is beautiful, but the rooms and "tired" and the food is just okay. It is also very crowded with many families and kids -- you need to fight for an umbrella on the beach every morning! When we checked out at 6am, we were told ahead of time that we didn't need to arrange for a taxi to the airport as they supposedly were lined up at 5am. That was not the case. Not only were there no taxis, the lobby at the Morning Star was completely dark, not one person was around to check out. As I had left the key in my room, I had to call 411 to get the number of the Marriott and ask them to bring a taxi. It was a bit scary being there in the dark when we were told there would be plenty of taxis.

Good place with fully accessible activities.

Posted Jan 4, 2015
Pros: Great ocean and bay view! Weather is excellent with windy but no cold. The service is adequate to be manner with patient and hospitable.
Cons: The condition in all hotel units and accommodation needs to be improved and rehabilitated due to several deteriorated parts affected by the weather.
Location: We would ratherto ride shuttle at their reasonable price on both way between the hotel and villages than riding commercial water taxi to a destination
The hotel place is likely isolated island with a great view of bay and ocean. The pools, beaches, boating docks and other activities are the great place for the family vacation with their pleasure and relaxation. The most exiting activity for the family's activity is riding a sailboat and snorkel for turtles. The four restaurants are good places with both bay and ocean views, and their foods are great but costly. The other food in marketplace is also the same price as the restaurant for breakfast and lunch, but lucky Aqua Restaurant gave more discount as well as 10-20% for any meals.

Terrible hospitality but beautiful beach

Posted Jan 2, 2015
Pros: The beach was very beautiful and the amenities (towels, kayaks, snorkels, floats, umbrellas and chairs) provided were plentiful and easily accessed
Cons: Customer service (no bellboys, unhelpful and very slow staff), hospitality, food
Location: St. Thomas is very scenic but incredibly difficult to traverse because of the slow moving traffic. There isn't much to do outside of the beaches.
We are a family of four and were looking to spend a nice week relaxing on the beach. We were quite disappointed by this hotel primarily due to the absolute lack of service and hospitality exhibited by the staff. Our troubles were exemplified by the first evening we spent at the hotel. After a long day of travel from the continental US, we found ourselves unable to even locate the hotel (having rented a car) due to the lack of any signposts or street signs. After we arrived at the hotel, we had to go to two different check-in desks before we were pointed to a third location that was actually the site of our room. The distinction between the Frenchmen's reef resort and the morning star cove component of the hotel was never made clear. Then, we were given the wrong room (a room with one king bed for four people.) They told us we couldn't move to the correct room till the next day. We were starved at this point and wanted to eat a quick dinner at one of the resort's restaurants. We chose Aqua Terra because it was the only one with vegetarian options for dinner. After almost an hour of waiting, we were finally given a table only to wait ANOTHER hour just to get our food. The food was not well cooked and way overpriced for the quality. The next day, we were supposed to move into our new room before noon. In reality, the room wasn't prepared till almost 4pm and only after we asked the staff several times. Over and over the staff was slow, uninformed, and unhelpful.

Beautiful location

Posted Jan 2, 2015
Pros: Views, pools, food.
Cons: Black mold around rim of sink.
Location: amazing location.
This is one of the most beautiful resorts at which I have ever stayed. The views from the pool deck are extraordinary. The trip started off not so great in that we were given a room with a king bed and two cots in the Harbor Wing of the resort. I had requested 2 beds through expedia. The receptionist said that the 2 beds were not guaranteed when I booked through Expedia, which was sorely disappointing. Then the room smelled musty and moldy. We were very disappointed. Having 2 people in our party over 6 feet tall, the cots were not cutting it and the smell was awful. The next day we went to the front desk and the receptionist worked hard to get us a different room. The new room was perfect. It was located at the cliff side with a beautiful view. The room did not smell at all and we were perfectly happy for the duration of our stay. If possible, avoid rooms at the Harbor Wing. Although the rooms have the exact same bedding and decor, they smell musty and moldy. Overall, the vacation was superb and I would return to the Frenchman if guaranteed to stay anywhere but the Harbor Wing.
