Marriott Frenchman's Reef - Family Summer Vacation

Posted Aug 17, 2014
Truly Paradise.. Our stay at the Marriott Frenchman's Reef was superb. Staff very friendly and eager to please. Hotel room was clean, with ocean view/balcony with breathtaking views. Took two excellent excursions hotel offers: catamaran snorkle turtle cove &night kayak definitely A MUST Do. Food at the restaurant's in Hotel are mostly pricey but if you enjoy fine dinning - you will enjoy. Havava Blues very upscale serving gourmet meals. Must go to Coco Joe's Lobster surf n turf buffet! Free shuttle within hotel grounds. There is also a convenience gift/shop behind the excursion info desk offering great snacks/breakfast-sandwiches..or open for night snacks/items forgotten to pack. Everything from restaurant food, drinks, items purchased can be charged to room and paid upon checkout. Did find their taxi service/ ferry from hotel - very expensive.. $7 per person each way. We were a family of 4 & it got pricey to leave hotel. Private taxis are $65 each way. If you are a big party recommend renting a car at airport. Food in Mainstreet town was better priced. Greengos Cantina Mexican Rest Excellent food/price.Take your own sunscreen- very expensive on island. MARRIOTT Frenchman has the most beautiful view and location on island, pools give you feeling that join the ocean. Watch cruise ships pass before you as you enjoy relaxing around the pools and gorgeous sceneries.free chairs, sorkeling, surf board rentals at beach. Island breeze day & night. HIGHLY recommend. Superb.

Excellent location

Posted Aug 15, 2014
Pros: location, right at the beach side
Cons: room improvement or upgrade, more clean
Location: play on the beach, in the pool, tennis, take ferries to Downtown St. Thomas. if you do not drive, eating at the Hotel restaurant is extremely pricy.
The Morning Start locates right next to the beach, you can walk a few steps and dip your self into the ocean. The beach looks beautiful, but always had big waves during my stay of 5 days. the beach looks so perfect, you can not find any sea creatures on the beach, it almost looks as if it is artificially made. The room looks somewhat run down, smelly, relatively small. but the location makes stay worth it. The hotel stuff are friendly.

Pros: Location was great. Setting is wonderful
Cons: 5fth floor of the Sea Cliff has no exit to the 6th floor (lobby/entrance level), having stairs up would free up the elevator. Prices are steep...
Location: Anything in the water... snorkel, beaches, etc. Town is geared for cruise ships, so unless you want jewelry or souvenirs, not much else (still nice).
Spent Sunday to Saturday at the Marriott. the hotel is beautiful, with a nice beach and several nice pools. We spent most of the time going to beaches on St. Thomas and St. Johns. These are billed as some of the best beaches in the world and live up to the reputation. Great snorkeling and hanging out on the beaches. Food and taxis are expensive, but we rented a car and went to the grocery store to find a little relief from the island prices. Overall, a most excellent week in the USVI!

Overall very nice resort

Convenient to beach access and multiple pools , nice on property restaurants and amenities. Friendly staff. Close access to shopping downtown. The main hotel is nicely remodeled. The wing we stayed was a little dated but clean. Overall we had a nice time and would return to this resort. May look into smaller Morning Star resort which are right on the beach on the same property.

Good but not great.

The hotel is nice. although on our last day it was so crowded that there was not one chair available to sit by any of the pools. The Marriot bar/restaurant on the beach, called Cocao Joe's, had the absolute slowest service and weakest drinks (and they are quite expensive) of any place I've ever been in all of my 55 years.
