Room Condition

Posted Jun 30, 2015
Cons: Train the desk clerk on what is/is not included in each room. Train the restaurant staff so they can do their job properly.
The desk clerk told all three of us that we would each have an ocean view. Non of the rooms had an ocean view! The room smelled musty and the AC was extremely noisey. Every time it started, it woke both my wife and I. At lunch, the waitress was very slow to get with us to get drink orders and then very slow to take food orders. The food was slow in coming and not very warm. Each one of the three checks was wrong. She tried to correct the checks but they were wrong again! All of these situations was way below our expectations. What is happening within the organization to result in such poor service?

Great location - excellent staff!

Posted Jun 27, 2015
Pros: Full service for everything - meals, pools, beach, transportation, and the views are unbelievable!!
Cons: Marriott is either over booking or gets travelers sent from the airport that have no reservations on the island and needs to accomodate them.
Location: Everything here is great - don't miss the beach!!
I just returned from 5 days at this property and what could have been a disaster turned into a simply wonderful vacation. For some reason, Marriott got overbooked so several of us that arrived on a Sunday afternoon learned when we checked in that the room we thought we had reserved was not available. That could have ended our vacation - but the staff made sure that we had an alternative room, and then went out of their way to make sure that we were fairly treated. We are not really the type to rant and rave and that wasn't necessary. A special thanks to Margaret for making things right for us so we could enjoy this beautiful property. Great views, great food at the SandBar and the Sunet Grill, a beautiful beach and the staff was just wonderful - even Andrew on security provided some medical care. We would definitely go back - and hope that they get this sorted out. Everyone there was pleasant, and having a great time was easy. Thanks so much!!

We just came back from a wonderful week vacation at the Marriott Frenchman's Reef. Beautiful hotel inside and out. Breath taking views. Plenty of pools and right on the beach. Staff was very nice and attentive. Great service. Strongly recommended.

Nice hotel

Pros: cleanliness and location
Cons: food prices
Location: close to Charlotte Amalie, take advantage of the tours that offer pick up--driving is a little nerve racking. The crew of The Cat offer great trips.
The staff was always helpful. Everything was kept neat and tidy. They are working hard at keeping things up to date. I loved my view from the room. Very relaxing. The hair dryer was broke however and I never could get the clock to work. Food is very expensive. Overall, it is a very nice place to stay.

Average beach hotel. Very old and run down.

Pros: The variety of pools. The beds were comfortable. The Aqua Terra restaurant was good for breakfast.
Cons: Each staff member gave us different answers. The phone operators could not connect me to the Sand Bar restaurant and would not connect me to a manager
Location: No restaurants within walking distance. Beach was ok, but not white sand.
The floors of the room were not clean, dirt under the tables and in corners and did not look mopped or even vacuumed. The in-room amenities were good, but would have liked to know we had a fridge in the room before coming. It would have helped to know there was a coffee and smoothie bar in the lobby gift shop when booking. The hotel restaurants were not advertised good at all, poor organization of options. We were not aware of what food we could get-even though they kept full menus at the adventure center. The menus were outdated and the food variety was not good. There were not many vegetarian options. The flatbread was good but way too oily. It would have been nice to have a pizza or some light pasta options. The veggie black bean burger at the Sand Bar was just ok, but too much black beans and there was not any cheese at all. There was hardly a leaf of lettuce and one lonely slice of tomato ---it would have been much better to have some sort of sauce besides ketchup for the burger. The adventure center was ok, but not helpful when asking about places to eat. We could not find a hotel concierge for questions like that. The conceriege we did find tried talking us into the Marriott program and talked us into the night kayak which was terrible. So disappointed in the sales pressure when on vacation.

Location: If you like snorkeling, the best beach that you can enjoy the most is Coki Beach. Trunk Bay and Megan Bay Beach are very nice view for swimming, too.
We surely did have a great time and enjoying to eat out some very good restaurants nearby the hotel such as Molly Molones (for breakfast), Gladys' Cafe (for lunch), and especially Grande Cru (for dinner. This location is very romantic view and foods are great & reasonable prices). The only thing that we don't really like is driving, because the roads are very tough for driving, just like roller coaster to us. Also, the traffic rule in St. Thomas is always driving to the left side of the streets!
