Nice location/hotel in downtown, Great view!Posted Jul 27, 2013 on Hotels.com
Many, many steps so be ready! The view and location were wonderful! Our room was a 1 bdrm suite with 2 french doors to a deck overlooking the harbor! Lovely! Washer/dryer and all necessary to make a complete stay very comfortable. There were 2 open restaurants and one was a bar type which was very affordable and the other was more upscale and more pricey but looked like it had a very wonderful menu and a place people definately come to from around the area! The staff were very polite and helpful! If you don't mind a very steep/hilly walk down to town and the return it is very close...approx 10 minutes only or very inexpensive for the taxi. From the airport the taxi for 3 of us with three bags was only $28. The pool, hot tub and wet bar type pool were very pleasant. The place has the correct star rating and for St. Thomas we would stay there again! This is a time share location so there were activites planned daily for all ages.

Nice rooms but staff could be friendlierPosted Jul 17, 2013
Pros: We liked the room which came equipped with a kitchen. The pool and hot tub were also nice.
Cons: The staff could be more friendly and accommodating.
Location: The hotel is situated up on a hill overlooking the bay so the view is nice. It's a short walk to town or to a supermarket.
We stayed at this hotel for the first few nights we were in St Thomas. We had got a fairly good deal for one of their studio rooms online before we came. The hotel room was equipped with a kitchen and very comfortable. The outdoor pool was also very nice. The staff was nice enough but they could have been more friendly. They made it feel like we were at just another hotel. Also, we were thinking of staying there one extra night, but they were going to charge us the rate for one night rather than take into account the nights we had already stayed there. At the end of our stay on the island, we stayed at another hotel, the Galleon House, and while the rooms weren't as nice, we liked the hotel more because of the people. They were super friendly, easy-going, and anxious to help out in any way possible. They wanted to be there and wanted to talk to us and help us out.

A great stay.Posted Jul 15, 2013 on Hotels.com
It was all I expected. Everything was within reach or readily accessible. We did not use the wifi service [it was not free for the guests]. No complaints. One detail, we forgot a two books that are precious to us and I'm greatly pleased to say that I had no problems getting it mailed to me in a very fast manner. This is not something that I expected, but nevertheless got.

All the comforts of homePosted Jul 7, 2013 on Hotels.com
I chose Bluebeards Castle due to its close proximity to the hospital and was pleasantly surprised. Pirates Pension is a bit further from the pool and restaurants but perfectly suited my needs. There was reasonably priced Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, weekly maid service and AC. My only regret was requesting a ground level room. I thought it would have fewer steps but actually has more.

A must stay!Posted Jun 9, 2013
Pros: Great pool, great room view, bright room,
Cons: Restaurant food prices, no beach
Location: Perfect location, no beach
The front desk was very friendly and very helpful. This room had an amazing view and located right in the middle of the shopping areas. The room looked more beautiful than the pictures. If we ever go back to st Thomas this is definitely where we'd stay. If you've never been to st Thomas bring walking shoes! If you're not afraid of some exercise you are more than able to walk from here. Otherwise a taxi is fine unless you'll be going back and forth a lot. Only downside is there isn't a beach close, but it's worth the $8 per person ride to go to Magens bay on the other side of the island and watch the sun set.

I enjoyed my stay at Pirates Pension. my room 394 had a lovely view of the ocean and the harbour. the room was clean and very comfortable. the bed could have been more comfortable but i made do with it. it came fully furnished with a kitchen and stove and refrigerator so i was able to prepare meals. the restaurants were nice as well. I will definately be staying here again

Fantastic viewPosted Dec 31, 2012
Pros: Beautiful yet changing view because of coming and going cruise ships. Very romantic.
Cons: Steep hills and hills
Pros: Fantastic view! Nice room layout with washer and dryer in addition to a very convenient kitchen. Very close to downtown. Cons: Unbelievable STEEP hills to climb, even going to the hotel front desk. Need good hiking shoes and energy or calling a taxi even for places within walking distance ($4 per person to downtown. $10 per person to airport).
