Disorganized mess!

Posted Jul 13, 2015
I booked 2 rooms and paid for them. The hotel gave our second room to someone else. When I voiced my concerns, I was told I could try to find a different hotel of my accommodations werent acceptable. With no rooms available elsewhere, our party of five crammed in!

We acknowledged that you booked two rooms, and paid for them. We did NOT give your second room to someone else. When your sister checked in, she mistakenly told our staff that SHE had booked two rooms, which she had not. Our staff made the incorrect assumption that she was travelling on your reservation, and checked her into one of your two rooms. We admitted our error, and apologized for the inconvenience. Because we only had three rooms reserved between you and your sister (when you mistakenly thought you had four), and we were full that night, we did the best we could to accommodate your group of 10 by making up sofabeds, putting rollaways in rooms, and generally making sure everyone had a place to sleep. When you continued to argue with us, we said that was the only option we could offer you, and your sister (who had only reserved one room) could try to find a second room at a different hotel if this was unsuitable. We are sorry that our best efforts did not make up for the error your sister made while booking.

A colorful gem of the island!

Posted May 11, 2015
Pros: Friendly staff and loved all their color choices! They provided beach chairs, towels, snorkel gear and small coolers for the day.
Location: Easy walk (small hill) to Cruz Bay shopping, dining and bars. Town has taxi's readily available to go to the beaches if you don't have a car.
A great spot to stay on the island for a few nights! Parking is available @ the inn and is close to town so you can easily walk to dinner or shopping without having to find a parking spot! Very welcoming, friendly staff. Beds were very comfy, enjoy a nice continental breakfast and then relax with a beer by the little pool after a day at the beach. A great find!

Enjoyable

Enjoyed staying here for 1 night while waiting to get into our villa. Small but Clean, comfortable room. Nice ambiance and decor. Walking distance to town. Nice sitting on the veranda for breakfast. Wouldn't want this to be my total St John experience but good for one or two nights.

Great Little Inn in the heart of town!

Posted Apr 27, 2015
Pros: Location and cleanliness.
Cons: It would have been great if our room had some hooks in the bathroom and in the bedroom to hang wet items up to dry.
Location: Great location. Easy to walk to dinner each evening or to catch a taxi to the beaches.
We have just returned home from a week stay at "The Inn in St. John". It was a wonderful week filled with warm breezes and great accomodations. The Inn was very cute and small enough to make all the visitors feel connected. I loved the cont. breakfast each morning and all the items we could "borrow" each day (beach towels, chairs, snorkle gear, coolers etc). In all I would recommend this Inn to anyone, great for couples as well as families. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the location is fantastic and the rooms clean and well stocked. We hope to be back next year!

Small but nice, quaint property very near downtown

Posted Apr 3, 2015
Pros: Clean and functional room, enclosed property with good privacy, very nice inner courtyard, simple complementary happy hour, low price.
Cons: The room was small. Front desk person left for the night at 8pm (which would have been fine if we had known in advance).
Location: 5 minutes walk from all the shops and restaurants at Mongoose Junction. 10 min walk from Caneel trail. 10-15 minute drive from great snorkeling.
The hostess greeted us warmly and saved us from having to take our bags up a bunch of steps to check in. She was very kind. The property and the entrance area outside our room were surprisingly small, but quite nice. Our room was very small, but had everything we needed - kitchenette, shower with hot water and decent pressure, clean bed. It didn't feel new, but it was all clean and brightly painted. There was a TV with a dish thing attached, but we tried for 20 minutes to get it to work and couldn't watch any TV. When we went to the front desk to ask about that, we found out that she was not available after 8pm. She hadn't mentioned that when we checked in. There is an extensive inner courtyard by the rooms, which is well finished, well decorated, and restful, with a small pool, Jacuzzi, hammock, and lots of lounge chairs and some tables and chairs. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from Mongoose Junction shopping/restaurant area.

Hi Chris. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay, and enjoyed the amenities our property has to offer, such as our pool and hammock. I regret that we failed to mention at check-in that our office hours are 8am-8pm, and apologize for any inconvenience that may have caused. We are a small property (only 12 rooms), so use a doorbell system for guest requests after 8pm. The doorbell is right outside the office door, and if you had rung it, I would have been happy to help with your TV. We hope to have an opportunity to welcome you back to the St. John Inn in the future. Sincerely, Amanda Sonmor General Manager
