Separated by a short, blunt point, two crescent beaches provide entry into turquoise Great Bay. This U-shaped bay faces St. John and is protected as a marine reserve and wildlife sanctuary. One beach measures 273 yards. The other, used for water sports, measures 82 yards. Use of snorkeling gear for exploring coral reefs just off the beaches is complimentary, as is use of small sailboats, windsurfers, and kayaks.
A dive center offers snorkeling and scuba excursions, and scuba instruction and certification (surcharges for all). Powerboats can be rented and fishing charters arranged. The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas has its own 53-foot catamaran, which offers half- and full-day snorkeling/swimming excursions to St. John and other nearby islands, along with sunset cruises (surcharges).
Above each beach is a freeform pool. One measures 130 feet and features an infinity edge. The other measures 115 feet and is located near a children's pool and spa tubs. Sundecks bordering pools are furnished with umbrellas and padded lounge chairs. Sunbathers are periodically offered chilled towels and fruit.
Two lighted, artificial-grass tennis courts remain open around the clock, with complimentary play. Yoga classes are complimentary, as are guided jogging/power-walking session several mornings a week and weekly sailing lessons.
