Very outdated rooms.

Checked into hotel seen condition and size of room and found another hotel. Asked for a refund and was told I had 14 days prior to arrival for a refund. We stayed up the road at Mafolie hotel for $50 more. Had wonderful view, nice rooms and excellent complementary breakfast. I would not hesitate to stay at Mafolie again. Galleon hotel should show room pictures on there site $108 dollars wasted.

Close to shopping and eating

Posted Feb 25, 2015
The hotel was a bit overpriced for what you get. The walk up the stairs with luggage was brutal. The staff was very courteous and helpful and it was walking distance to a lot of great local eat and shopping spots.

A great B&B, great location and staff! So helpful.

We love Galleon House. The guests and staff were amazing folks. We got very good advice and assistance with all our activities. The standard breakfasts offered are delicious, and with $5 for an entire second breakfast, the hungry man saves, big time, but we found one plenty! Don't miss the rum punch there! It is close enough to town to walk to a lot of things or catch a bus or cab from the vendor market. The view is premium and the pool area lovely. Fair warning: most *all* places on the island are built up with many stairs--that's the geography of hilly islands, so be prepared to climb a few small flights to restaurants and this B&B, but surely you'll be glad you did.

Good value. Clean and friendly. Heart of the city.

We enjoyed an overnight stay in the heart of Charlotte Amalie here. Great base for seeing the sights and experiencing St. Thomas. The breakfast was simple and the room quirky but nice. We enjoyed the in-room AC and a dip in the pool after a hot day walking all over this stair-happy town. Would book again.

nice hotel downtown

Posted Feb 14, 2015
Pros: breakfast pool closeness to town and restaurants (walking)
Cons: not much
Location: Quite , in middle of town, view of the harbour and housing on the hillside. 2 minute walk to the seafront where there are loads of shops/restaurants
Was able to walk to hotel from ferry with all my bags - roughly 15 minutes. Quite a few steps to get up to reception and the rooms - but great view. The hotel is a very old building and has the feel of a hostel - but with private rooms. There is a lovely small cool pool with iguanas and patio which gets sun till sunset. The very friendly staff are always available and will serve you at the bar anytime. In the morning you get a wonderful cooked breakfast - sausage, eggs, toast, bacon, OJ, coffee. I was in a hurry for a flight and they were very quick with service. TV is very small, air conditioning old but functional. I had a shared bathroom - but everyone else had private bathrooms so - I didn't have to share.

Stairway to Heaven

Posted Feb 12, 2015
No mention on your site that there are 40 steps up the hill from street to reception with your luggage. At 71 with a new hip and arthritis it was a challenge. Further there were 45 steps from reception to my room!! Friendly staff, no free wifi, gbreat breakfast, good guest comaraderie. Steps were a killer

Galleon House, a jewel in the rough

Posted Feb 6, 2015
Pros: The staff.
Cons: Maintain a clean pool, it is not a fish tank
Location: It is close to shops, restaurants and the waterfront
The staff is extremely friendly but it is an old structure that need upkeep. Rooms w/shared bathroom are not much but have the charmed of having old rustic siding inside the room. There is much to say about the pool, mildew in grout and tiles did not invite for a swim and those who dare (2 guest).did not spend more than 5 minutes. This problem can be easily solved with proper chlorination and maintenance. The free breakfast was real good and the plate presented beautifully. For dinner, the staff recommend the Sugar Cane Grill and it was to die for. Has a restaurant but has been closed for years. Beer and soda are available until 9 which was nice. With some tender loving care this place can be the jewel of St. Thomas.
