We drove from Illinois, for our Grandson's Marine Officer graduation, and the round trip was very smooth, but it was after we got home that a big problem occurred from the Comfort Inn. Our stay was nice! The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and breakfast was good.
BUT, when you turned the bathroom fan on there was a strong cigarette smell and after a shower, there was orange steam bubbles on the ceiling. We did not complain to anyone as it did not bother us. The bedding didn't smell nor did anything else in the room so we were fine with it.
But when we got home there was a $200 charge at our bank for smoking in the room. We never so much as lit a cigarette in that room! Room 102 is by the exit and we smoked outside.
We called, on Sunday, to explain that we didn't smoke in the room and the girl was snippy and accusatory! She said they just put new carpet in and painted the ceiling so it had to be us!!! I asked her to go in the room and put the fan and shower on, and to also look at cameras from the outside and you will see us outside. Apparently she had no interest in that.
Three days of frustration, restless nights, and three phone calls later, I was told they'll give us the "benefit of doubt and refund our money!" So, in their eyes, we're lying! They should have ran the fan and shower, and looked at the cameras like I suggested, and then apologetically gave us the refund.
If you stay there, and smell cigarettes, go complain immediately!
