Perfect location

Posted Apr 21, 2015
If you are visiting PSU, this is a great location. I did not rent a car, so I used the hotel's shuttle bus from/to the airport. I checked out at 4:30 am and at that time the bus was ready for us. Even though the hotel is not new, it is very clean and we had a pleasant stay. We had breakfast and dinner at the Tarragon restaurant and it was excellent.

Tired old hotel.

Posted Apr 21, 2015
Hotel was mostly empty but for some reason they gave me a room facing a busy street. Double paned windows didn't block much of the noise from the traffic or construction across the street. Noticeable stain on one of the bedspreads, eew. Bathroom faucet leaked. TV remote missing battery cover. Batteries in backwards (what?). It an older hotel, the staff is friendly, location is central.

Pros: Everything!
Cons: n/a
Location: I don't think there is a better location if you wish to be in the heart of it all. Location is probably my favorite thing about the hotel.
Staff, room, lobby, parking ... perfect! Loved it all and especially the location of it!

It was a short stay. Classic hotel, clean simple room but correct. A little outdated but I would stay there again if I needed.

the Hotel was very clean and nice.

Posted Mar 9, 2015
Pros: very clean and located in good area
Cons: the heat in the rooms
the rooms have issues with heat. I could not get it to a comfortable spot...it was either to hot or to cold. Also elevators were freezing.

Nice but noisey

All was great until 7:00 am on Saturday morning when the construction started across the street. We were very happy when they were kind enough to start at 8:30 am on Sunday. We really love staying at The Atherton because of its close proximity to everything, however until the construction is over we might consider another location.

never again

Posted Feb 22, 2015
Pros: convenience to town housekeeping responded immediately
Cons: heat the hotel adequately. clean the upholstery. repair the squeals in the pipes and heating unit. update hallway carpets.
we will never stay at this hotel again. the entire hotel was freezing... from the elevators, to the lobby to the rooms. the heater squealed. the shower squealed. the uphostered chair was stained and worn. the hotel just appeared to be worn and beaten.

clean hotel. very convenient to penn state campus.

Posted Feb 18, 2015
Pros: location
Cons: i do not appreciate that hotel doubles their rates everytime they know penn state is having an event.
room was missing a refrigerator which would have been nice. clean. great location if you are visiting penn state campus. walking distance to all stores/ restaurants on college avenue
