Very nice place

Posted Jul 31, 2014
Our stay at the Howard Johnson was very enjoyable. Close to downtown with plenty of parking at the motel. The staff was very friendly and the room was big and very clean. The pool was also very nice and went up to 9ft. The stay really was very nice.

Convenient

Room was clean but the hotel was dated. Pipes made noise when people in other rooms took a shower. Basically it met our needs. Room air conditioner worked great.

Nice, affordable hotel

Posted Jul 6, 2014
Pros: King size bed was very comfortable.
Cons: Offer more items for breakfast.
Our room was very clean and comfortable. The shower had good water pressure. The only drawback is that breakfast is not that varied, just cereal and some bagels, and the exterior hallway had a bunch of bugs.

I stayed for two nights

Posted Jul 1, 2014
Pros: Good atmosphere, veggie garden
Cons: My wife thought the mattress was not good - mine was okay.
Location: Location was okay - trolley stop right next door and nice restaurants close by
It was okay, except the staff were great. The manager has a veggie garden! I enjoyed talking to him about it.

Exceptional Value for a HoJo Overnight stay

Posted Jun 28, 2014
Pros: Location to highway, spacious rooms, very clean and neat rooms, great FREE Breakfast, room amenities.
Cons: Breakfast toaster and waffle maker should be moved, as their present location tends to JAM-UP the coffee line. Put them on the opposite side.
Location: We visited a fantastic Art Glass maker (Blower) // museum, which was only 1/4 mile from hotel. This is a very old and historic town, lots of history.
My wife and I decided to stop in Staunton, VA, on our way to Charlotte by car. We chose the HoJo Express, because the price was very reasonable and we only needed a room with a bed and shower. BOY!!! We're we surprised. This place is great. The hotel management is very courteous and anxious to help with any requests. The rooms are spacious, clean and filled with warmth and hospitality. The night before, we had stayed at a much more expensive and supposedly much more prestigious hotel in NY. It was small, unkempt and the staff was rude. This HoJo Express is a breath of FRESH AIR, in an otherwise stale. There are many inexpensive and good places to eat and visit, within walking distance. Stay here when you are in the area. You won't be sorry.

On our way to DC

Posted Jun 8, 2014
We stayed over on our way to DC. This was an inexpensive place to stay but was somewhat dilapidated. The pad under the carpet was rolled up. The bed linens were thin and cold. OK place to stay if you were broke and in college, traveling.
