dated hotel on a fast crossroads

Pros: nothing
Cons: service. the bar. the food. the "buffet/carvery" on saturday was completely devoid of any taste or seasoning.
Location: it claimed to be a wedding hotel. I have never seen such an unkempt, tatty lawn/garden for the wedding party.

Nice - but not Bicester

Overall the hotel was fine however I had booked it after an evening event in Bicester Village - on the website the hotel is described as being in 'Bicester' however it was a good 25 minute taxi ride (and £17 each way!) in the middle of nowhere.

The hotel is very pleasant with good friendly staff. We were looked after and enjoyed a very good meal. Hotel is a little tired and could do with a lick of paint. Located conveniently for bicester village shopping and Oxford

Staff very helpful, hotel in good position, dining area a bit chilly and while there was a separate dining room noone seemed to use it so there was really only the bar to eat in (which was ok). Bedrooms clean and comfortable.

convenient base

We were not expecting this to be a particularly luxurious stay and were right although it is clean and the staff are helpful it could certainly not rank as luxurious,it is quite tired inside and in need of a revamp,heating was also a little erratic and was either too hot or not on,but this may have been a one off problem.Rooms seemed to vary a lot and some of our party had much better rooms than others overall it provided a convenient base for a wedding that we were attending nearby and with breakfast included it was not too overpriced for what we got,would also be convenient for a base if outlet shopping or other places in the area.Staff were all friendly,polite and the hotel was clean.

Filthy pillows and musty smelling rooms

The staff at the Holt were lovely - nothing was too much trouble and they smiled and made us feel welcome. The room was musty smelling and the pillows were filthy, with staining all over them. Breakfast was very poor with undercooked sausages that looked as if they had been boiled and cheap ingredients.

Cons: As said above, towels to be re-folded for an added touch, perhaps a better kettle. Free Wifi as we had to pay for this, not usual in hotels now.
Location: Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, and Oxford
The hotel was ok but I would not recommend it to anyone as there was nothing outstanding about it. We booked as it was near our friends. The bed was comfortable and sheets clean. The bathroom ok, but the towels although not changed was fine as we left them on the rail, were not re folded to look nice, as they do on the cruise ships. Just the extra things make all the difference. I worked for Royal Caribbean for 9 years so my standards are very high. The coffee facilities were ok, but the floor in places needed a better hoover. Décor was wild like being back in the 70 or 80's. Plenty of lovely hot water and powerful shower, and red hot radiator. Food in the dining room at breakfast was ok, plenty of choice and tasted as it should. The staff were friendly. As we walked down the corridor there was a small section by the Fire Door that smelt badly, probably damp. Am sure as it is a big old hotel very difficult and expensive for upkeep.
