You don't have to limit your tour to the points of interest in Steingaden because the whole region has been endowed with a treasure-trove of fascinating sights and attractions. Schwangau, lies roughly 10 miles (16 kilometers) to the northeast. Head there to check out the Hohenschwangau Castle and Neuschwanstein Castle.
Grab some transportation and visit Fuessen, a regional center, situated 12 miles (19 kilometers) away from Steingaden. This regional center offers plenty of visitor attractions, such as St. Mang's Abbey, State Gallery in the High Castle and Museum of Fuessen. Lech Fall and Fuessen Music Hall are other good spots to visit.
Spend a day in the fresh air and sunshine and discover Upper Bavaria's open-air museums and gardens. Religion is an intrinsic element of every community's DNA, so why not set aside some time to visit the area's many churches and other religious sites.
Experience a side of the region many visitors will never see by accompanying a local guide on one of the guided nature walks and city walking tours.
