fantastic hotelPosted Aug 7, 2013 on Hotels.com
i truly enjoyed my stay at Hotel J. the rooms are well appointed and very comfortable. the lobby lounge is a great place to relax and have a night cap and/or snack no matter what time you return "home" from visiting stockholm. it is a quiet environment a short bus or ferry ride outside of the city center, which makes it feel like a true vacation. staff is extremely helpful, nice, and knowledgeable; they made restaurant recommendations and recommendations, and were very responsive via email, which was helpful given i have a foreign mobile phone and would get charged if forced to call. breakfast was excellent. serene and comfortable environment and ambiance was exactly what i wanted.

Right on the waterPosted Jun 6, 2013
Pros: Lovely waterside setting
Cons: If they could sell the bus and SL ferry tickets at reception, life would be a lot simpler
Hotel is a 10-15 minute bus ride or 20-30 minute ferry ride from central stockholm. So it's great if you plan to go out for the entire day. Not so convenient if you need to pop back to your room during the day. If you get an SL travel card it will be much easier to catch the bus and SL ferry. Without it, you have to first go to the local newsagent (not open at weekends or after 19.00) to buy a single ticket and then wait for a bus or ferry. Hotel is lovely though and a great way to combine the city and the sea in one trip.

Hotel J - Rooms with no viewPosted Jun 4, 2013
Pros: Rooms are very comfortable and hotel is very clean
Cons: No view - no food options - poor restaurant service
Location: Beautiful location - nice setting
Hotel advertises water views, my room looked out to a brink wall with no water view. There are about 8 rooms that I can tell that have this problem. I checked in Saturday afternoon and was told the restaurant is fully booked and there were no other food options available. On my own I ventured down to the restaurant. I waited at the front door for over 10 Minutes as the hostess was dealing with a problem customer and everyone else at the door was effected - no one else attempted to address the guests at the door - once the problem was resolved the hosted approached with no apology just with a "what". I sat at the bar and had a fair dinner. Front desk should be more accommodate hotel guests for dinner - and rooms that look at walls should not be advertised as water view -- would not stay here again

Lovely hotel and great location by the lake with easy to reach transport into Stockholm, although the ferry doesn't appear to run in winter. Not much in the immediately surrounding area when looking for an evening meal. Would definitely go back though. Staff were very helpful and friendly and the hotel decor was lovely.

Quiet escape in the cityPosted Sep 14, 2012 on Hotels.com
This hotel was exactly what I wanted/needed. It was quiet, clean, comfortable and beautiful! I wish I could have stayed longer than the three nights I was there! The breakfast is great with lots of options and high quality foods. My room was so comfortable I almost didn't want to leave it to explore the city! It's a bit of a walk up the hill to the not very frequent transit sytem, but it's also a short drive to the city and there are plenty of taxis nearby. I would love to stay here again!
