“ALMOST 100% GREAT”

This hotel is a large yacht with perhaps the best location for a visitor to Stockholm in the entire city. It is close to the trains, the bus lines, and easy walking distance to major attractions. It is in a safe location, quiet, beautiful views and an excellent breakfast is included. Staff members are friendly and helpful. Although my satisfaction with the cleanliness of my room could have been better, I realize that problems occur and I want everyone reading this review to be aware of unforeseen circumstances. The rooms are cabins on a large yacht, and thus subject to mildew. I had the least expensive cabin and it was small, but I expected that to some degree. However, my room had an unfavorable smell. The entire yacht was under renovation and my particular cabin was not yet renovated. The adjacent cabin was renovated and 100% perfect so I realized that my particular cabin was not the standard for the hotel. I brought the problem to the attention of the staff and although it was not attended to immediately, it was acknowledged later that it was an unfortunate situation and I was compensated. I would highly recommend visitors to the beautiful city of Stockholm seriously consider staying here. As I said, you can't beat the hotel for a number of great features and one sad incident should not deter you away. I will certainly stay here again.

“Met our needs very well”

Price very good considering the location. We wanted to stay in Gamla Stan area and we spend very little time in our room since we came to see the Stockholm sights. Hotel is old ship that once belonged to Betty Hutton...it still rocks to the waves! Front office (24 hrs) very helpful and professional. The breakfast, included in the price, was plentiful, fresh, and varied. Bar and restaurant "on board". Only a few rooms have contained shower/commode; only twin or bunkbeds, it seems. We had to squeezee the bathroom floor after showering but no big deal. If you're extremely particular about your room, this hotel may not be for you. I recommended hotel to Rick Steves travel books for the price, location, and safety of the location. Also, small park across from hotel with small cafe overlooking the water was a favorite hangout to chill out.

“Softest beds! Best views of Lake Malaren!”

A fantastic experience staying on this grand old lady of a ship, with original decking and brass portholes opening onto fabulous views of the Lake. Staff were more than helpful, offering to post letters; bringing us blankets of an evening in the deck bar ... Very handy for Gamla Stan (old town); quiet, quaint; stylish. Not for those wanting modernity, muzak and mini bars. Very generous breakfasts. Beds (bunks) with snowy linen you just surprisingly sank into. A highlight of our holiday.

“Novel floating hotel right in old town Stockholm”

Staying on an old and very comfortable boat docked right against the best part of Stockholm was a great find on the Expedia site. Price was good. Room small but ideal for my business trip alone. Easy walking to great old centre. Breakfast good.

“Good location and different.”

It's not clear from the Expedia Web Site how the rooms differ or even if a room without a bunk be is available. It is. We had a bunk which for three nights for three nights was fine. Allied to price and location you probably can't get better. We ate once in the hotel. The food was lovely with an unusually eclectic mix of flavours. I'd probably eat hear again even if I wasn't staying. Breakfast did it's job. Typical cold European fare or scrambled egg and hash browns or all of it as it's a buffet. I'd use the hotel again but it's worth noting that lounging in the room isn't great as theirs very little floor space, one chair and a bunk bed. The on suite shower was a small 'wet room' with the toilet and sink. It was fine.

“LOVED IT”

I loved the novelty of staying on a boat, I loved the location minutes from Gamla Stan underground station, I loved the sceanery on a beautiful partially frozen lake (feb). I loved the small rooms with all the amenities you really need for a short trip. I loved the glass floor in the lobby looking down on the engine room. I loved the sauna which was turned on just for our use. I loved the city, vibrant, beautiful and clean. I loved my trip and i would do it again...

“A real experience in Stockholm”

This converted ship had real charecter and comfort. It was in a wonderful position in town (Gamla Stan, the old town), and the dining areas looked out onto wonderul views of water and islands. The cabin (one of the cheaper ones) was compact, but very comfy with an ensuite shower room. The breakfast was tasty, the breakfast room un crowded as there was a 2.5 hour breakfast slot. Would love to go back!

“Fantastic Location, Excellent Value”

Mälardrottningen is in a fantastic location - totally walkable from the central terminal for train, T-bana, and bus - and close to everything else that you'd want to see or do in Stockholm. I couldn't get over the awesome location. My room was excellent - clean, comfortable, newly remodeled bathroom that was gleaming clean. At times, the fan in the bathroom did permeate weird smells but I could open my cabin window so that worked out. The staff spoke excellent English and were very helpful. Breakfast was excellent. I didn't eat there for dinner but the guidebook said they have a good restaurant. Overall - clean, comfortable, and can't beat the location & amenities for the price :D I'd definitely stay there again/recommend it!

“Excellent hotel”

This has to be one of the best hotels we have stayed in. The location is perfect for getting to anywhere in Stockholm (there is a Tunnelbana & hop-on Hop-off boat terminal on Gamla Stan within easy walking distance). The beds were very comfortable, the rooms quiet & the breakfast spot on.

“Brilliant Quirky hotel, Fantastic location and Brilliant facilities!”

We picked this hotel as the price was excellent for 4 nights in the centre of Stockholm, we didnt expect too much as we booked the seamans cabin with bunk beds. However, we were very pleasantly surprised to find a brilliant wetroom in our cabin with a fantastic shower and plenty of hot water. The cabin also had comfy bunks, flat screen tv, free wifi, hairdryer, phone, full length mirror, double wardrobe and air con! The staff were very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was brilliant with a huge selection from egg and bacon, pastries, ham, cheese, sausages, fruit, cereals, you name it and it was there and was also stocked up every few minutes! The location is second to none with amazing views over lake Malaren and 5 minutes walk to Ostermalm/Sodermalm/Normalm/Kungsholmen. There is a new tunnel being built under the lake but we didnt hear any work being done and were not disturbed at all. We also got a direct bus from the airport to the central station and the hotel is a 5 minute walk from the station so no need for expensive taxis either. We would most definately stay here again and would recommend it to anyone, although for a romantic occasion the more superior cabins with a double bed would be preferable to bunks, but as i travelled with a friend the bunks were fabulous and we had a good laugh. I cant think of anything negative at all to say about the yacht, loved every minute of it and Stockholm.
