3* - You Must Be Joking

Posted Apr 17, 2014
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Everything
Location: There's a pub down the road that does good food and gooid beer
I will never stay here again. Hotel staff were miserable - smiling was clearly not in the job description. Carpets throughout the hotel were disgustingly dirty. I don't think I've ever checked the bed in a hotel room before, but with everything else being so horrid, I did examine the bedding very closely- it did appear to be fresh and clean. Breakfast in the morning was terrible. 3* was far to generous for this place. One to avoid. I chose it because it was well within budget, but it was not a pleasant stay.

Not the best place to stay!

Posted Mar 27, 2014
Pros: Absolutely nothing at all apart from it was in the right location for where I needed to be!
Cons: Everything, new staff, new bedding, upgraded and updated rooms, better facilities - so basically a new hotel!
Location: I can't say as I wasn't there sightseeing - I was working in the area.
The staff were on the edge of being rude, the room was ok but that's as far as it goes. Would not recommend this to anyone.

Great value dog & child friendly hotel.

Myself, my hubby, two young lads of 6 & 3 needed a place within reasonable driving distance of Salford to stay overnight that would allow our westie to stay too as we don't like the thought of putting him in a kennel. The Brittania Hotel had a great rate for the four of us & was only an extra £10 for our dog to stay too. As Stockport is only about 30/40 mins drive from Salford we went for it. We expected it to be very basic given the low rate, but were pleasantly surprised with the standard of the hotel. Staff were friendly & helpful. The room was clean, beds comfortable and had TV, everything to make a brew, plenty of spare pillows and bathroom had all you would expect too. Our concern was that we had to sleep with the windows open as the heating was on so high it was stifling, we were worried as the function rooms were two floors below us & worried noise might of disturbed us and the kids - none of us, not even the dog, were disturbed in the slightest however, brilliant nights sleep. The restaurant was very reasonably priced and the food was great, even our 3 year old eat a good amount and he's going through a super fussy phase with food & they were more than happy for hubby & I to enjoy a few drinks after our meal even though the boys were with us. The decor is a little dated, but that doesn't bother us. We will definitely be staying at The Brittania Hotel Stockport again next time we need to be in the northwest. Can't recommend the place highly enough.

Pros: The staff members and the cleanliness.
Cons: That the bar took card instead of having to then pay for drinks at reception.
A lovely and cheap hotel. Had brilliant staff members and very clean.

Uncomfortable and unfriendly staff

Posted Feb 20, 2014
The room we stayed in was far too hot, with no facility to turn down te radiator. Our only option was to open the window but our room was on the main road with an extractor fan right outside. The staff were unfriendly and u welcoming and there wasn't even anyone at the desk when we checked out. We ordered 2 meals a lasagne and jacket potato with cheese and beans. The food arrive with the lasagne on top of a plate of cheesy beans!!! Not a jacket potato in sight!!!

If you want cheap this is the place

Posted Feb 15, 2014
Two rooms booked and the cheapest had the breakfast included??? And to pay for it seperately was a tenner... not worth the cost. The room wasnt just dirty and dusty it had obviously not been cleaned in a long time. What litle dealings we had with the staff were pleasant. The only saving grace to this hotel was the pool and sauna but that was an extra charge. Would i stay again???? No.
