“Ston Easton - a base to explore Bath”
We were struck by the initial WOW factor of the brightly lit front of the building as we arrived down the gravel drive and thought we were in for a good stay if first impressions were anything to go by. This continued on the inside as we were shown the various stately home rooms that were available for us to wind down in as we wished. The receptionist was incredibly helpful in showing us to our room and made the whole process feel personal rather than like “just another customer”. The free paper was a nice touch given the fact we don’t get time to read them during our hectic lives. The service from front-line staff (receptionists, bar staff and waiters/waitresses) was exceptional and could not be faulted – extremely polite and courteous at all times and always willing to take a moment to help us. A small gripe was that the room was left open by the cleaning staff whilst we were eating breakfast (a wonderful full English breakfast and buffet) but after this was reported, it didn’t happen again. The 3 course meal on the last night was very enjoyable as well, and for £50 per head, I would expect quality. The food was beautifully cooked and the ambiance in the restaurant was very serene and the service was excellent as well. On the whole, we paid a lot but it did feel like a cut above the norm. Having stayed in many hotels around the world, I would say this one provides a quintessentially English experience of the hotel industry (and within easy reach of Bath).
