Be sure to let your tastebuds loose in Iceland's cafés and restaurants. Some ingredients you'll find in a number of Iceland recipe books are lamb and root vegetables such as rutabagas and carrots. Do as the locals do and try saltfiskur (dried and salted fish) or harofiskur (jerky type fish). Those who would like to try something else, can order mondlukaka (almond cake), a lovely way to round out your Iceland culinary adventure.
At the end of your stay in Iceland, keep in mind that you can visit again. As you may have heard the locals say: A guest once, forever a friend.
