"Welcoming, helpful staff; Good restaurant; OK room"
I was taking a few holiday days in Stornoway. I picked the Cabarfeidh based on other positive reviews in Expedia. Overall, I was quite pleased with the hotel, and I second the positive reviews of others.
The staff was very welcoming, friendly, attentive, and helpful. They didn't seem hung up on precise job definitions; if a guest had a problem or request, whoever was closest jumped in to help.
The hotel restaurant was very good - good food, reasonable prices. It was good enough that there wasn't really a reason for me (as a first time visitor to Stornoway) to go out in the evening in search of someplace to eat.
I think the hotel offered good value for the money.
Things for improvement:
The wireless internet was slow and unreliable - I suggest the hotel upgrade its wireless.
My room was not well sound-insulated - I heard a lot of noise (conversation) from the hallway; and the ceiling must have been thin, because I could hear my overhead neighbor tramping around the room.

2nd floor big room in the eaves- big comfy bed, big clean bathroom- big TV and most importantly for me FAST wifi! All staff were lovely, food was great (1kg pot of mussels is well recommended)
Hotel itself (Not my room) could do with a lick of paint and a makeover but nothing wrong with it- a little tired that's all. I will definately stay here again.
