Disappointing and old not cozy or quaintPosted Dec 2, 2013
Awful King room was 2 twins pushed together with twin bedding on each. Bathroom door didn't shut - let alone lock. Room was over the kitchen so we heard clanking late and again early. Teeny small TV and bad WiFi reception. Holes in door in bathroom and ceiling was dirty. Weird. This place needs major attention. The breakfast was limited and what was there wasn't very good (and we aren't picky) -- we asked to see another room but that one was worse! It smelled musty and mildewy. We were supposed to stay another night and we checked out early and came home. Front desk staff was disingenuous telling us the place was booked so we couldn't switch to any room but the musty one. However, the manager in the pub/restaurant told us the hotel wasn't particularly busy. We would never go back or recommend it. They are STILL advertising that Alan Alda filmed a movie there 35 years ago. Well, I'm sure it was lovely then but who cares now?

Rooms were unique, beautiful and a great viewPosted Oct 28, 2013
The heat wasnt working in our room, so the owner upgraded our room to the bridal sweet at no extra cost. Beautiful rooms that are all different and the lodge itself was wonderful.

Older hotel but unique in a pleasant surrounding.Posted Oct 25, 2013
Pros: The breaks fast was included and it was excellent. The views were great.
Cons: It was rustic. The driveway and rooms need to be upgraded.
Location: Excellent location with great views.
We were looking for an alternative to the more expensive places available in the Stowe area and found the Stowehof Inn on the Internet. Concerning the price and location we found it to be quite a value. I would recommend it to a friend.

the dump in StowePosted Oct 23, 2013
Pros: the view from the dining room
Cons: tear it down and start from scratch
Location: way too commercial, although the outlying scenery is beautiful
the hotel is a dump. built at least 30 to 40 years ago and it looks like they haven't put a penny into it since.

Location: Stowe VT offers an endless supply of things to see and do, depending on the season of the year. It has it all!
Besides the friendly and helpful staff, the food was to die for. Can't say enough about the knowledgeable wait staff, and the superb food. Presentation was lovely, and everything cooked to perfection. From salad through desert, not a crumb was left on our plates. A tasty, full breakfast buffet was included in the room rate. Our room was luxurious, with easy chairs and a large TV, a massive, extremely comfortable, king-size bed, a nicely appointed bathroom and dressing area with two large closets, and sliders to a patio overlooking the spacious grounds and the ski mountain. We wish we could have stayed longer, and have already recommended it to some friends. We'll definitely go back!

rustic and oldPosted Sep 14, 2013
Cons: A little less mud
Location: close to Von Trapps
This place was in the country in a very scenic setting. if you don't mind things a little outdated then it will fill your needs. Breakfast was great the first day and just so so the second day.

We stumbled on this hotel while searching for resorts in Vermont. Great, reasonably priced, and staff was fantastic
