Nice hotel. Close to restaurants and shops.

Posted Sep 11, 2014
Pros: The breakfast, the room, the pool and the hot tub.
Cons: Nothing. It was a very pleasant stay.
Location: There were enough restaurants. However, there wasn't a lot of shops for souvenirs.
The staff was very friendly and the room was very comfortable. I loved the river in the back yard and the miniature golf course was fun. I would definetly stay there again!

Great place.

Pros: Compared with prices of other motels this one was in my price range. Included Continental breakfast.
Cons: Directions how water turns on in the shower-it wasn't intuitive. Real coffee in lobby at 6AM would have been a nice treat.
Location: Mountain biking, road biking, hiking, kayaking not too far away.
Great room. Quiet, clean, nice back yard with a nice river in the back.

Nice relaxing spot in VT!

Posted Jul 2, 2014
Pros: The location and what it had to offer right in the back yard. Back porches were amazing!
Cons: Having vending machines/ice machines available 24hrs. Also longer pool hours.
Location: In the middle of Stowe! Short drive to the Von Trapp Family Lodge, nature walk across the street, mini golf, Ben & Jerrys, Lake Champlain Chocolates
Great price, great views, great experience! The hotel is right near all the great attractions in Stowe and a short drive to all of them in Waterbury (especially Ben & Jerrys)! The hotel's location is right next to the nature trail, there is a river in the back yard, and great views! The only downside I found is the beds were not the most comfortable and there wasn't a 24hr ice machine, so make sure to get your ice by 10p! The staff was great, the breakfast was superb (more than just bagels and cereal!). The ambiance was just very relaxing and great atmosphere to spend the weekend!

Very relaxing, laid back hotel.

This was our third stay over several years. The hotel has passed ownership to the daughter and son in law sometime ago. They had owned another hotel in Stowe previously. A beautiful clear water mountain stream flows behind the hotel. The lawn is well kept and sitting there on some simple lawn chairs looking at the mountains and watching the stream has to be one of life's great pleasures. Rachel and her husband are very friendly and thoughtful hosts Very clean rooms. Outstanding putt putt golf course. Close to everything in Stowe and surrounding area. One drawback for me anyway..........the bed mattress is a little too soft and I am not overweight. I still give this a 5!

Nice bargain hotel - will return.

Posted Jun 24, 2014
Pros: Everything except the beds
Cons: The mattresses
Stayed for a weekend in June 2014 - enjoyed the place very much. We were upgraded to a loft room (Room #5 - additional beds on upper level) at no extra charge . Nice clean rooms. Beds were not comfortable (mattresses in bad shape), although we were told that many beds were about to be replaced. Great location - and having the beautiful river/stream behind the hotel is almost worth the price of the entire room:-). We had stayed at Grey Fox Inn (also in Stowe) previously and liked it also - but due to the river in the back of our room, I'd have to say we preferred Sun & Ski. We will return there one day. Very relaxing, very scenic, a real nice place for a week-end getaway. For dinner, ate at Piecasso and Gracies - both were very good.

Team get away

We stayed with the basketball team. Great suites with lots of beds and room. Nice outdoor patios with sliding glass doors. The pool was great, could open the sliding doors and get some fresh air and sun while the kids swam. We will definitely stay next year!

A gem of a spot!

This is by far one of the best places we've stayed in Vermont. The staff was outgoing and friendly, the accommodations were clean, the bed was extremely comfortable, and the price was very reasonable. We would definitely stay at the Sun & Ski again.
