Adequate

Adequate. Old but not run down. Bare bones as advertised. Fair value. Right next to pizza place, helpful for kids.

Good place to crash

It was a bed to spend the night, get ready for skiing at Stowe the next day. Major problem was that the bathroom hadn't been cleaned recently. The walls were thin but I slept through the neighbor's snoring with little issue. If price is important (to keep it low) this is the place for you. Worked for me.

Clean, Inexpensive Room, Incredibly Friendly Staff

Posted Oct 22, 2014
Pros: Staff, cleanliness, price
Location: Hiking (the Long Trail) skiing, cycling. Nice bike path in town. Surprisingly excellent nightlife
I was hiking the Long Trail when I came off the trail to spend a night in Stowe. The nice lady at the front desk upgraded me to a larger room without me even asking. The room was very clean and nice. It wasn't a luxury-resort type room, just a nice place to spend the night. The hotel was right next door two two great places to eat. The next day, when I left, I realized I had left my baseball cap in the room. The man I spoke to actually walked up to the room, found it and promised to send it to me at no charge. I can't tell you how many times I've left something in a hotel room only to have the front desk tell me it wasn't found -- without even looking. These folks went above and beyond. Shipped it back to me at their own expense. The next time I go to Stowe, I am staying at the Riverside.

hotel with character!

Its to expensive for what is, a bit rundown and it has a kind of mothball smell. Location is good and it's a affordable alternative for all the other expensive hotels in this area.

Pros: The friendliness of the proprietors, the comfortable atmosphere, the frienliness of guests
This is a no frills inn, but the proprietors make you feel right at home. The cozy parlor with a nightly fire, the owners sitting and talking with guest, the history of the inn all make for a unique experience.

Good location in the heart of Stowe and near the mountains. Good Pizza place next door :-). Though tiny rooms, thin walls, new carpeting would be nice. But all in all ok for a one night stay.
