A tired property, in need of serious attention.Posted Mar 10, 2014
Pros: I was so tired from traveling I didn't care that there was nothing really to like.
Cons: Wow- where to start? Carpet, TV, furniture, bathroom, bedding, paint, windows.
Location: Plenty to do in Stowe, no problem there.
I rolled into the Stowe Inn at about 10:40 pm. The door to the front lobby was locked, with a confusing note about using a "code" to get in. I didn't have one. I knocked and got the attention of a night attendant who tried in vain to communicate with me through a glass window. She finally opened the door and mentioned something about me not having a late arrival code because I booked through Expedia. Look, for close to two hundred bucks a night, they can have a desk attendant there to answer the door (yes, all night long) and check me in when I get there. When I got to the room, I couldn't believe that I was paying that much for what I saw. I don't have anything else to compare to in Stowe, but I have traveled to many ski resort towns in the US, and reside in a Colorado ski resort town, so I believe that I am a fair judge of what to expect. Nothing broken, just, thin, worn and tired. This is a $49 motel room in any little town in the midwest. It is only "cute" because it sits in Stowe, VT. That doesn't cut it.

Nice and convenientPosted Mar 10, 2014
It wss a very nice stay....except for the fact that expedia had cancelled my trip for me so when I arrived they did not have my name and were booked to capacity. They thankfully had one room available. Stayed here before and have never been disappointed.

Really gone downhill with the new ownerPosted Mar 2, 2014
Pros: The main part of the inn has charm and is easy walking distance to better restaurants.
Cons: The new owner needs to be on site to talk to guests.
Location: 15 minutes to the slopes at Stowe
We stayed at this inn about 8 years and loved it but not this time. Very disappointed. The breakfast was a joke. Cold coffee, some oatmeal and toast. The room was hard to sleep in from the noise of the heating system. They failed to clean our room after our second night. The restaurant and bar was only open Friday and Saturday night. They only had about 20 diners yet ran out of many things. Even the bar was out of many basic brands of whiskey. The new owner really needs to clean up her act before I would go back.

Quaint dumpPosted Mar 2, 2014
The welcome was warm especially with the single digit temps outside. The room was spacious, nicely appointed WITH. A heater that sounded like a cement mixer churning throughout our stay, toilets that clogged with out reason ( the owner gladly serviced our problem and said " all of our plumbing is connected". So I guess their problems became it problems-- this was especially disconcerting when the basin filled with water that had black flecks floating in it that left the basin black when drained!! Ugh!! There was a continental breakfast. Grape but cereal, mini muffins and 3 -- week old bagels that could have been used by the Bruins as hockey pucks. Coffee, bug the harried waitress informed us that the chef did not show up, so the beautiful array if hot offerings for breakfast were not possible and she did not know how to get hot water for tea. The view is lovely from the dining room looking back over into the center of Stowe and they have a bar that was carved during Grant's time. All worth seeing, but maybe make this a sight seeing stop and not an overnight stay. Definitely not worth the $189 I paid for myself and my kids in a delux room.

Most disappointed I've ever been with a hotel stayPosted Feb 23, 2014
...but didn't. I should note I don't usually write reviews, because I'm fair laid back, but I wa complex because the experience was so disappointing. First the room was definitely not worth the price, just of itself. Run down, terrible beds, etc. But these things don't usually bother me. However, three was also no soap in the bathroom and no trash can in the room anywhere. These are basics you get in a comfort inn. So that was less than ideal. I feel mistakes are made though and people should be given a chance to correct them. So in the morning we let the front desk know and she said she would alert housekeeping. We went out a all day, and when we came back, not only had either problem corrected, but housekeeping NEVER EVEN CAME! So before we left for dinner I told the front desk again. There was no real apology, and when we returned, there was finally soap but STILL no trash can. To me, that is completely inexcusable. There were two chances to make good on the mistake, and it was not handled or handled poorly each time. Unfortnlutely, no positives to share here. Stay at a chain or spend the extra to stay close by at a different establishment.

Nice place for the pricePosted Feb 21, 2014
Close to everything. The hospitality was wonderful. My only complaint was the mattress on the bed. It was worn out and needs replacement. The fireplace/meeting room in the main house was very comfortable and convenient. Great for family games etc....

The Stowe InnPosted Feb 18, 2014
Pros: Location, location, location.
Cons: As note above.
Nice place, but a total lack of ambiance. Very little is done by management to create a welcoming environment. This could be a very cozy, friendly, comfortable, attractive hotel with a great restaurant and bar. But it's not at this time.
