Center to Stowe Activities ....but disappointed

Posted Feb 7, 2014
Pros: Convenient Location.
Cons: Better Bed Linens & Room Upgrades (Carpet, Bath, etc ). Over-priced for what you get I'd say.
Location: Good SnowShoeing, Skiing , plenty of Restaurant/Tavern Choices.
B & B accomodation lacked expectation. Service was ok .

Stowe Getaway

Posted Aug 26, 2013 on Hotels.com
Hotel staff were very friendly. Bar and restaurant were very good although the meals were somewhat expensive. Our room was good but the AC was a small window unit that kept the room stuffy even though it was a cool brisk night. A screen in the window would have helped. I wonder how hot the room would get on a hot summer night.

Nice hotel; great location - a couple of downsides

Posted Jan 3, 2013
Pros: Location; restaurant; closet/storage space in room
Cons: Parking area not well maintained (snowy/slippery); Slight odor in room
Location: Location was terrific
First the positives: The hotel is in a great location, close to the center of Stowe and near nice shops, art galleries and restaurants. There is a fun restaurant/bar on the premises. The owner was friendly, and the hotel offers free tea and cookies in the common area. The room was a decent size, with a comfortable bed, plenty of closet space and Wifi. The negatives: It snowed quite a bit and the parking lot wasn't cleared or even sanded, which was ok for us but I could see being difficult to navigate for older travelers. Our room smelled a bit "off" (like cleaning fluid) and needed to be aired out.

Easy walk on plowed sidewalk to town. Lots of snow! Good "British" food, a little pricy

Nice hotel for a short stay

Posted Oct 8, 2012
Pros: Nice restaurant
Cons: No ability to control the temperature.
Location: Convenient location, near town and across the street from a great pizza place!
I stayed for two nights in room 12. When I arrived, there was no one at the front desk. UI had to ask a server from the restaurant if there was anyone around. After a few moments, the owner arrived to check me in. He was very kind and pleasant to talk to. The halls of this hotel are quite narrow and have several steps between sections which makes it difficult to maneuver luggage. The room was spacious enough for two; the bathroom was small but clean. The single chair was hard and uncomfortable and the tv was old and had several snowy channels. The bed was comfortable enough but the pillows were flat. There is no thermostat in the room so adjusting the rooms temperature was impossible. The first night was warm and stuffy even with the windows wide open and the second night was almost too chilly (the temperature dropped into the low 40's that night). Ice is available in the bar but I would'nt put any of it in a drink -- when I filled my ice bucket, there was a bottle of wine sitting right in the ice bin (kinda yucky -- who knows where that bottle had been or whose hands had touched it). The attached restaurant was very good (although our calamari starter was rather cold, the rest of the meal was delicious).
