Very nice staff but a not so clean room.

Cons: Housekeeping was below average.
Nice room, but not clean. The rug in living area had not be vacuumed prior to our stay

Marginal experience

Posted Jul 14, 2014
Pros: Nice view of lake, but that was all.
Cons: Everything. Considering the number of alternatives that we noted in Mackinaw City, we're sure that there are better choices.
Location: We were in the area for a family event in a near-by city, That was the only reason for the trip.
Room was musty. Otherwise, the room was average. Breakfast unsatisfactory; crowded breakfast room, in fact we left & had breakfast elsewhere

Pros: The owner/manager and the linens on the bed.
Cons: The breakfast food and the moldy washing machine area.
The room was clean, and had the basic necessities. The beach is kept up my the hotel, although the bottom of the lake area is silt and you sink when you walk in. You also smell like iron, metal and sulfur when you leave the water. The area is perfect for sightseeing the Mackinac area and you are close to the ferries for an island visit. The staff is overall pleasant, but abrupt. The owner/manager is a wonderful man, and very accommodating. He even drove us to our ferry destination. The free breakfast is just OK. All of the food is microwaved, so it's not the tastiest. Also, beware of the food police -- if you take anything out that would otherwise be thrown away, you are chastised. We took a plate with 1/2 of a waffle and a sausage patty (that would've have been thrown away) and were given dirty looks and treated with disdain the following morning when we returned. I washed and dried two loads of laundry at the hotel and the clothes REEKED of mold. The dryers did not dry the clothes completely, so I had damp, moldy clothes that I had to bring back with me to wash at home. The water park that is included is down the street and is fun for the kids. Beware that there is no lifeguard, and there aren't any accommodations. There is a snack area that is not open. The bottom of the pool has sand on it, so I question the cleanliness. The kids loved it though!

Nice but many others to choose from

Posted Jun 29, 2014
Pros: The free breakfast was very nice.
Cons: Vending machines more accessible. Beach area could be improved.
Location: It was handy to restaurants, shops and ferry.
The hotel was nice enough and the breakfast was very good. Most of the rooms do not have a view of the beach and the beach is nothing to get excited about. We were within walking distance of all attractions in Makinaw City. Vending machines were not close by the room but outside across the driveway. There were so many other hotels to choose from that may have had a nice view. etc. All in all it was okay and very busy.

Family Vacation

Posted Jun 19, 2014
Pros: The breakfast was wonderful!
Cons: The pictures on the website surely do not depict what the room really looks like.
Location: Thisis a summer travel town. Many shops and restaurants.
The room was extremely small. Nothing like the photos on the website. Our room was supposed to have 2 queen beds but one was a bed that folded up into the wall. It had only one thin mattress. the sitting chairs had you sitting and looking at the door.

Spacious room right at the beachfront

The room was nice and spacious. The breakfast room was over the top and fantastic. Staff were chilly and could stand to be more gracious but otherwise were helpful.

Nice hotel on the beach front!

It was a good experience. I loved the fact it was right on the beach. They kept the room clean and it had complementary breakfast.
