Liked the hotel

Posted Sep 29, 2014
Pros: Location and dining room
Cons: quaility of bikes they rent. Nothing they can do about small rooms
Meals were good. Enjoyed discounted martinis before dinner. Used the hot tub. Wanted to use executive golf course but they didn't tell us it was closing the day we were going to use it. Convenient bike rentals right on property.

Receptionist was not very friendly.

Pros: There was a great deal to do on the grounds if you had plenty of time on the Island to use them.
We had requested a room close to central activity as my husband had recently had knee replacement. We were sent to the Lodge, quite a walk. Otherwise the hotel grounds, facilities , location, restaurants were wonderful.

Good price for on Island Stay

Posted Sep 15, 2014
Pros: Cozy.
Cons: Newer TVs, updated room locking system.
Location: Everything on Mackinac Island.
My girlfriend really wanted to stay on the island to really make the most of our experience, but most seemed too pricey. Mission Point was the same price for one night through expedia as a hotel 2-3 miles from the ferries in Mackinaw City so I said why not. Overall, it was good, the room was clean, outdated but I knew that going in so no surprises...its a Mackinac Island theme really. The room was SOOPER small, not a big deal because it was meant just for sleep after all. Theres no AC built into the rooms but the floor unit does a bang up job so no worries there.

Queen rooms very small

Posted Sep 14, 2014
Pros: Everything, except the size of the room.
Cons: Just the room size.
Location: It was fine.
I thought the rooms were too small for the price, especially the bathroom. When you sat on the toilet your legs were actually under the sink.

This hotel is very beautiful and charming.

Pros: The history. The Tower Museum. The lobby is beautiful with a cabin feel. With multiple fireplaces and seating.
Cons: Making sure that staff doesn't tell the guest that their luggage would be inland and only to wait an hour before the next ferry arrives for it.
Location: This hotel is on Mackinac Island MI. Shopping, restaurants, and museums. No cars! So horses, carriages, bikes, or walking. Outside attractions.
Our stay with Mission Point was memorable. Staff was helpful and knowledgeable. The room was a good size for a standard queen bed. Arrangement of bathroom sink and toilet was placed in a awkward position. I'm guessing that was a dorm room, since this hotel was originally a college build in the 1960's. That is what attracted us to visit this hotel. This Mission Point Hotel is full of history. We would without a doubt visit Mission Point Hotel again in the future!

Away from the main strip, Nice!

The hotel property is big and on a beautiful setting. Seems very historic and everything about it is interesting. Reminded us of The Shining - long hallways with up and down passage ways everywhere. If the other big one is booked or just too expensive, this is the next best choice.

Nice close to exhibits

Our room didn't have a view and was very small for 2 adults and 2 kids. The pool was cold and the activities/services at the hotel were costly. The breakfast was good, staff was helpful and friendly at the restaurants.

Great trip back in time

Posted Aug 31, 2014
Pros: Friendly staff, reasonably priced, and plenty to do on the grounds while being just outside of town.
Location: Horse back riding in a wooded park without a guide, bike around the island, hanging around town daytime or night time.
The hotel is a little dated, but the whole island is dated, so it fits right in and adds to the charm. We also liked the fact that it was not in the middle of town. A ten minute walk gets you to town, or you can take a carriage ride. The grounds include a beautiful lawn area on the shore, great for relaxing or flying kites. And there are several dining options, from a bar and grill atmosphere in the lodge and on the shore/lawn area, to nicer dining.
