Great location, needs a refresh

Posted Jul 25, 2014
Pros: Grounds, location
Cons: cleanliness, updated rooms
Beautiful grounds and main lodge, but probably hasn't been updated since the 80s. Bathroom out of date and in need of a good scrubbing. room was not made up all day, even after request. Has potential but not much attention to the details.

We've stayed at the Mission Point Resort on a number of occasions and always found it to be a charming, well maintained and clean hotel.

Loved every second. Great place to stay.

Posted Jul 17, 2014
Pros: Expedia
Cons: Put an ice machine on the second floor.
Location: Arch Rock, The Fort, The Yankee Rebel in town was a great place to eat, The Grand Hotel, The Mission Church and much much more.
The breakfast and dinner was delicious. Beautiful view of lake from our room and in dinning room. We stayed in the Straits at Mission point. The observation tower at Mission Point was very interesting. I am a big fan of the movie Some Where In Time. Learned a lot of the movie was filmed at Mission Point. It is about a 10 minute walk to town and even closer to the Arch Rock. I look forward to returning many more years to Mackinac Island and will stay again at Mission Point.

Park-like grounds

Posted Jul 13, 2014
Pros: Ambience
Cons: More handicap accessibility
Bell staff were amazing! Also, David, the bartender was perfect. Did have problem with room assignment but desk and bell staff worked it out with minimum problem.

Noisy Room

Posted Jul 11, 2014
Pros: Staff
Cons: Noisy floors.
Location: Location is out of the way, so noise from the town is avoided. The resort has many options for family fun.
The Mission Point Resort main commons area was nice and well maintained. Our room was nicely appointed, but had no hooks in the bathroom and no mirror other than the bathroom mirror. Since my husband and I were vacationing with our adult daughters, when it came time to get ready for dinner, there was no place to prepare other than the bathroom. The worst part was that we stayed in the Strait Lodge portion of the resort and were on the 2nd floor. The floor in the room above us was incredibly squeaky and very loud. Our room's floors were squeaky too, but since we were not walking around all night, I don't think the people below us suffered like we did. It may have been a maid's closet......the noise sounded like someone running a wheeled cart/luggage over tiles and lasted ALL NIGHT. The $15.00 breakfast buffet was ok. Our server was wonderful. The best part was the omelet bar. Overall, for the room and breakfast, we paid around $400 which is way too much when only one out of 4 people gets any sleep. We have been going to Mackinac Island for 30 years, and this was by far the most disappointing stay we have experienced.

OK, but overpriced...

Posted Jul 10, 2014
We have stayed in hotels in dozens of locations around the country. When comparing this hotel to others, it is over priced for the quality of the accomodations. The room was clean and the hotel staff was excellent. But, so were many other places we stayed at half the cost. The restaurant staff was a different story. The chefs did a good job, but some of the waiters had no clue what they were doing. Numerous mistakes.were made, and the service was very slow. In summary, the hotel was nice but not a good value.....a three star hotel at a four star price.

Lovely hotel on island

Posted Jul 7, 2014
Pros: The staff were extremely kind. Comfortable beds.
Location: Even though this hotel is a little out of town, I liked that it was quiet and the property had plenty of room.
Staying at Mission Point helped make our few days on the island pleasurable. Our room was very comfortable and the staff were very nice. We had a small problem while staying there, and the front desk personnel kindly and promptly fixed it. Their breakfast buffet was very good.

Great hotel and close to town and things to do. Kids eat free at resort restaurants. I would recommend this hotel to others. Double beds were a bit small for family of four..
