Hotal Du Rhin at train station, Strasbourg, France

Posted Jun 30, 2011 on Hotels.com
The location is great and I chose this because the customer ratings were a 4. However, when I got to my room I could not believe how old and run down it was! A very low, sagging bed, tiny room, little flies in the toilet, spider in the sink, street noise all night long. This reminds me of how hotels were back in the late 80's. I have not been in such a run down room in years. Very disappointing since I usually have great luck with my choices on this site, but now my trust is diminished. On the up side, the staff at the front desk were very nice and the lobby looked nice. I couldn't believe the room though.... they really need to refresh them.

Good location, nice staff

It's not the Ritz, but for a weekend stay, the Hotel du Rhin was comfortable enough and the location is excellent, within an easy walk of everything on the Grand Ile. Breakfast at €6 is more than you'd pay on the street but worth it for the convenience. Parking in a secure garage a couple of blocks away is discounted for hotel guests at €7.50 per night -- ask the hotel reception to stamp your ticket and then pay in the garage's office. Strasbourg is wonderful and the Hotel du Rhin is a good spot from which to enjoy it.
