Satisfying budget choice

Posted Apr 10, 2014
Pros: location,
Cons: geting the rooms fully refurbished.
Location: The zooalogical museum are a few minutes walk away, Alsation museum is 10 minutes. Restaurants and bars & cathedral 15 minutes away.
My experience passed very smoothy. We have to be realistic with expectations and while this isn't 5 star, I am on a budget and I'd say I got value for money. The room was tidy and the staff were pleasant. Although the breakfast is ok, you could probably do better getting something whilst out on a jaunt. A major plus points is that it is really simple getting from where the hotel is into the centre. Firstly there and trams that are dead simple to use outside the hotel, secondly, you can walk to the centre in 10-15 minutes, which is actually a good idea because you can familiarise yourself with the immediate surroundings. Strasbourg is a really interesting place, worth at least a 3 nights stay.

Strasbourg Hotel

There was a terrible sewer smell in our room. Thank goodness we were only staying one night. Do not stay here!

Would stay again

Posted May 7, 2013 on Hotels.com
We stayed 2 nights on our way into Germany. Was a little trepidatious - unfortunately we had booked at a time when the European parliament was in session and there seemed to be a shortage of hotel rooms in Strasbourg. The Esplanade seemed to be offering a much cheaper rate than other hotels near the centre. but it was great. Staff were always friendly and helpful, room was clean and comfortable and the location was fine - a 20 minute walk to the historic centre and right next to a tram stop. On a main road, but the glazing was good enough to drown out any traffic noise. I slept well - and I'm a light sleeper.

Noisey, but nice location.

This hotel is located directly in front of a main road, which features multiple tram lines (which is convenient when wanting to reach the city center). A cleaning lady entered my room when the door was locked, using a key. There was NO 'Do Not Disturb' sign available to use. The internet service was poor at times. I did like the clean bathrooms. But considering the above, the price did not match the standards at this hotel.

Cheap and basic

Nice, cheap hotel, conveniently located for the city centre. Only downsides were that our room had clearly been used as a smoking room for the previous guest and the mattress was far too soft for my liking. Neither of these things bothered us enough to complain so I can't comment on how they would have dealt with it. Would stay again if on a budget.

Not for business

Posted Nov 26, 2012
Good for the things with this hotel is its location, a bit cheaper, and relatively nice staff. Since Strasbourg is not so big, booking a hotel because of its location is not so significant. It can be good only for touristic purpose. Do not choose this hotel for business

pros: good comfortable, friendly, budget hotel. Cons; bathroom very small and rooms have wooden floors so you hear every foot step from over guests.

a hotel for 8 hours sleep

Posted Sep 10, 2012
We reserved for a week and got the worst room the first night:the door next to the reception and the window on the a noisy street of Rue de la Victoire. We asked to change it and we had an other room at the 5th floor-the reception employee was very helpful. So we could sleep. The bad side was the internet connection very slow and unstable. -and the bathroom cleaning,we didn't have towels for two people but we asked at the reception for more. The continental breakfast was OK.
