“Old style, if you like it that way”
Clean, but no electrical outlet in bathroom. Floors creeked all the time, in room and halls. Front doors and office is closed during the night; no one around after 10pm. Felt like I was stepping back into early 1900's. Needed more than one small wastebasket, especially in bathroom. Beds were extremely comfortable and clean. Great location.
“Apart from the carpets, a pleasant stay.”
The Albert St hotel is in a very old building. As such, it has slightly odd hallways, and slightly creeky floors, but the rooms are very clean, and the bed was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever had, and I travel quite a bit for work. Most of the reviews I had read before had to do with the cleanliness of the carpets, but that was only a problem in the hallways, and the overall cleanliness and condition was very good. With a coffee maker, free Wi-Fi, and a comfortable bed, added to the amazing (yet quiet) location in downtown Stratford, I would definitely stay here again.
“Albert Street Hotel, Stratford”
Hotel was fine as we wanted a clean place to sleep and clean up at before the theatre.
“Not impressed”
The location was good. The staff was pleasant and friendly. The room seemed clean and the beds were comfortable. However, the bathroom was awful. It was in need of upgrading and it wasn't cleaned very well.
“Location, location, location”
Perfect location. A block from the main shopping & restaurant street. Easy walking distance to all four theatres.
“lacking but cheap”
my only real complaint is the bathroom design. I am 5'8" and had to open the cabinet doors underneath the sink in order to accomodate my knees so that I could sit on the toilet facing forward (this might not be the case with other rooms at the hotel). a pedestal sink in the corner of the bathroom near the towel rack would be better and there is room for one, so I'm no sure what happened here. there is no ice machine but you can get ice from the front desk until 8pm when they go off duty. the carpet in the foyer, hallway, and on the stairs looks like Albert herded buffalo on it, but the place is cheap compared to the nice hotels downtown.
“Wonderful location”
The location is wonderful, right near the center of downtown and about a block from the Avon Theater. Those that worked there were friendly and helpful. Parking is a bit of a problem, but easily overcome. The restaurant attached was great and convenient. The hotel is old and shows its age, but that did not keep us from enjoying it.
“Terrible”
Do not stay here. The location is good, but that is the only thing to recommend this place. Carpet was FILTHY. There was a sign indicating it was due to be replaced, but I have read other reviews that mentioned the carpet has been in this condition for years. Television was broken, I calle dto let them know and nobody ever came to fix it. There is no staff in the hotel from 8pm - 8am. Parking is scarce, the hallways are dimly lit and confusing and there is no elevator.
“Skip this hotel”
Huge staircase, no elevator, no bellman service for luggage Noisy: every creak, evry chat in the hall could be heard. WiFi only in a few rooms. Hotel restaurant not functioning. Parking offsite, required daily pass or payment. The onlt good thing was the location, near the Avon Theater and shopping areas.
“Disappointing for the price”
While the room was clean and the location is convenient, it was disappointing that there was no elevator, the bathroom was extremely cramped, and the front desk didn't open until 8 am on a Saturday.
