"Perfect hotel for location and history"
It was our first visit to Statford-Upon-Avon and we particularly wanted to stay in an historical buliding but within the town centre. The Hotel has been clevery modernised to still hold all the charm of the traditional building. Our room was superb, with a seperate lounge area, bedroom, office area and the bathroom was fully modernised. The commom areas were everything we had hoped for. The staff were friendly, helpful and professional and overall the hotel was excellent. We coulcn't recommend this hotel enough and will definately return.

"Excellent hotel and location"
I picked this hotel because it was centrally located and had had the Old World Charm I was lloking for ... and I was not disappointed! The staff were really friendly and the meal service (both room service and breakfast) were spot-on. The room service breakfast was the best we have ever had at any hotel in the world. The room was small, the bathroom 'bijou', the floor was eneven and creaked, the window was low but the charm was there in spades! This part of the hotel was built in the 1500's and people booking this hotel should be aware that it was not designed for the 21st Century tourist. The only down side to the whole experience was the matress as it was lumpy and had a dip in the middle. Apart from that I would recommend this hotel without hesitation.

"Nice hotel, close to everything."
Very nice hotel. Updated bathroom and gorgeous room. Beautiful views and walking distance to everything. The only problem is there is no elevator so you'll have to hike your bags up a flight of stairs if you're not on the first floor.

"Late escape for relaxation"
We booked this last minute and stayed for one night as a couple. The rooms were spacious and clean with no long treks down corridors as the hotel was nicely spread out on either side of the main lobby. Staff were friendly and courteous. The hotel was fully booked with a conference that weekend but the hotel maintained a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy our meal in the evening. We were able to order from the a la cart menu in the bar which was wonderful and tasty. There are spa facilities onsite which were fine and they were able to fit in my husband for a short treatment.

"A beautifully tranquil weekend escape..."
The character of the hotel was timeless, the exterior and interior echoing a theme of old English charm - A real wow factor upon turning into the driveway. The grounds and surrounding area were ideal for evening walks, with an ideal location outside of the hustle and bustle of Shakespeares Stratford. But only a 10 minute drive to the town centre. The hotel staff were pleasant and friendly, but taking into consideration the hotel's 4 star status it would have been reassuring to have been escorted to our room, as the inside of the manor is very intricate with small staircases and corridoors. The facilities were very modern, the bathroom a contempory design, kept very clean. My only criticism being the ventilation in the room. The weekend that we spent at Billesley Manor was beautifully hot and sunny, resulting in the temperature of the room being staggeringly humid, there was no ventilation or air conditioning. The spa facilities were of a good standard, the only improvement would be to extend the opening hours of the pool at the weekend. Overall a very relaxing stay, I would most definitely return to Billesley Manor Hotel.

"Weekend with Grandchildren"
Stayed here following a visit to Warwick Castle which is just a few minutes away. Check in was smooth and efficient. The children were given little packs of colouring books and pencils which we thought was a nice touch. Our family deluxe room had 1 double and 1 single bed with a sofa bed ready made up for the other grandchild. There were complimentary bottles of water, plenty of really nice toiletries, fluffy bathrobes and slippers as you would expect from a quality hotel. Our room was pleasantly quiet and we all had an excellent nights sleep, which makes a change for me because I usually don't sleep well on hotel pillows. Plenty of piping hot water for children's baths in the morning although I have to say I would have expected a proper shower screen rather than a curtain and there were some black mould spots in the grouting round the bath - although didn't really detract too much from our overall experience. Breakfast was great. The cooked buffet lovely and fresh. All the usual baked goods. Really good juice for a change and plenty of cereals and fresh fruit. There was no queue and service was again quick and efficient. The swimming pool is small but we did not find it overcrowded at all and the small sauna and steam room were also nice. The lounge and bar area are really nice with lovely comfortable sofas. All in all we had a really nice stay and would certainly recommend.

"Would use again"
After a very long day travelling it was nice to be greeted by friendly and very helpful staff. We had the use of the swimming pool and sauna (not crowded) to enable us to unwind before we had our evening meal, the meal was nicely presented and good. Everywhere was clean and tidy even though they were being redecorated throughout.

"Alveston Manor, brilliant stay"
We have stayed at the Alveston Manor many times over the years and always enjoyed our stay. We were disappointed to discover that there is now a £5 parking charge (which covers a total stay). This is to prevent non guests from parking in the hotel, but the rooms are not cheap (the suites especially - it was a special occasion for us) and we felt that this could have been either hidden in the cost or a token given to guests to prevent them from being clamped by the independent policing company - bad show Macdonald Hotels! We stayed in the Queen Elizabeth Suite, which had been redecorated and updated since our last stay. As it is on its own in the grounds it is lovely and quiet, there are 2 rooms above the suite but we never heard any noise. In the past we have stayed in the standard rooms and found them to be acceptable. The breakfast is lovely with a great selection, we did not have any other meal in the restaurant as to our mind it is quite expensive and not to our taste, but others may not share that view. The staff were very helpful and friendly, we would definitely recommend this hotel and use it again.

Pocket Guide: Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire Pet-friendly Hotels

William Shakespeare gets top billing in this Tudor town; the Bard's early and family life are on display at Shakespeare's Birthplace and Anne Hathaway's cottage. Visitors should take the opportunity to attend a performance of the Royal Shakespeare Company at its recently revitalized flagship theatre. Make sure to view the River Avon, the town's other star attraction.
