The hotel is beautiful and the view of the lake is breathtaking. However, the service in the dining areas was not at the standards that I expect from a five star hotel. Also, the mattress and pillows in our room were extremely hard and not al all comfortable.

The hotel was in a prime location overlooking the lake and just a stone's throw from the village centre. Stresa is a lovely place with a good selection of restaurants and bars. Our room was very small with barely any space to walk around the bed and the air conditioning did not work resulting in it being very stuffy. Breakfast was good and there was a lovely terrace to sit out on to enjoy the views. There was ample car parking at no additional cost. We would stay in this hotel again.

We booked only a few days before arrival and were delighted to find our every need was catered for. we did not make use of the spa facilities in a short five days, but thought they looked very good.
The courtesy car was essential as there is a lack of pavement between the hotel and Stresa in places.
The view was to die for and the food extraordinarily good. Our room was a little small; with such a large bed it was difficult to navigate around each other on occasion, but the care and attention to detail was indeed 5-star.

"Great hotel, location, breakfast could be better"
Great, unbelievable location in 19th century top luxury resort in magnificent geography, blossoming nature. Room seemed in good condition rightly styled for the town. breathtaking view from the terrace on the roof. photos made with smartphone from the roof in sunny morning look greater than ad in travel magazine. Staff are friendly, all was really great and interior as well as surroundings looked like you paid third of what probably should cost as you feel all the luxury. During the breakfast you feel like nobel family member form 19th century super rich clan related to 3 royal families in Europe in a costume drama movie in terms interior, views of Alps, lake and perfect lawn and all the rest you see. The only thing that we did not enjoy that much was breakfast food. As we travelled from hotel to hotel, came from Locarno and much cheaper place had salmon, more choice and better breakfast overall. Fruit salad was a bit sour and starting to bite the tongue (maybe not too fresh...), both mornings. Breakfast experience was strange thing out of context and that's a shame. It is a great hotel in perfect location, condition is good, staff is friendly. Breakfast should not provoke the thought that hotel survives not the best of times. Eating breakfast in royal place tells that magnificent golden age of luxury of the royal resort of the 19th century has passed irreversibly and 21st century mindset will prevent from experiencing a blend of it... even if for just 2 nights.

We arrived out of the season (after November 15th), but we had a wonderful time. The staff was very very helpful and did everything to make our stay a pleasure. We got good and helpful knowledge regarding things to do around especially at this time of the year. The family, the owner of the hotel, were also very friendly. We were lucky and had a wonderful time!

This hotel is in a great location, just past all the "grand" hotels on the lake. The owner is so warm and gracious and accommodating - we really felt like we were VIPs. We had a beautiful view of the lake from our room, which was a pleasant surprise. The room was very comfortable, WiFi worked well. The breakfast area was quite grand and beautifully furnished, with huge windows with a great view, and the breakfast was excellent. The owner provided a recommendation for an excellent restaurant in town that we could walk to. I would definitely stay here again if I have the opportunity to come back to the area.

Favoured by European aristocracy in the mid-19th century, and consequently endowed with several grand hotels and villas, Stresa is now a small, quiet lakeside resort. Villa Pallavicino has a fine wooded park, botanic garden and small zoo. The favourite excursion is to the Borromean Islands, particularly Isola Bella, for its palace and gardens. A cable car from Stresa to Monte Mottarone (1,491 metres) offers great views of the lake and islands.
