Excellent service in lovely old villagePosted May 25, 2015
An old building with lots of character, now an excellent hotel. Highlight for us was the high quality food combined with attentive and well trained service.

Hotel with character in a beautiful townPosted Feb 2, 2015
Pros: All the staff were fun - they smiled and seemed to be enjoying themselves - so the guests do too.
Location: This was a business trip but it was nice to walk round the town and shops. If you don't wan't to eat at the hotel then there are good restaurants near
A warm welcome from very friendly and helpful staff, a comfortable room in hotel of great character, two excellent restaurants, chairs by log fires... what more could anyone want?

Lovely quirky hotel, but with room for improvementPosted Jan 13, 2015
Pros: The age of the property.
Cons: General staff training and parts of the restaurant menu
Location: Lots of interesting historical walks.
It's a wonderful experience to stay at the Swan, although there are some drawbacks. We had a "superior" room, which we thought was on the small side, and the bathroom was positively cramped. The restaurant was good although my desert, a quince and chestnut trifle, was far too creamy. Staff were pleasant but not outstanding.

Lovely hotelPosted Aug 29, 2014
Location: Lavenham is a beautiful village like going back to the 16th Century.
Excellent hotel, everything about this hotel is great. It has the wow factor as soon as you walk up to it. It does not disappoint when you enter and has a warm cosy feel to it. The hotel staff are great and also the food was top class. The room we had was fantastic, well cleaned and comfortable.

Nice place but could be greatPosted May 19, 2014 on Hotels.com
Hotel full of character - rickety floor boards, funny shaped rooms. Very nice place to stay but a missed opportunity to be a great place. Waitressing staff too interested in process and lack personal touch. Shame as the hotel could be a ***** experience.

Impeccable Service - Perfect location for LavenhamPosted Sep 3, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel is very charming -- holds true to its medieval charm with the required updates to plumbing and decor while still holding onto its 16th century roots. Lavenham isn't very big but this is located within a few hundred meters of the market area where all the shops and restaurants are.

Glorious WeekendPosted Mar 5, 2013
Pros: everything,,,the whole experience
Location: unique and beautifully English
The Swan encapsulates the ultimate English beamed hotel full of authentic detail combined with the warmest welcome and 21st century snug and cosy comforts. Add excellent food and service with the most splendid of old Suffolk village surroundings and you are in a lovely place.Simple pleasures are easy. Just relax with a glass or three and read the Sunday papers in front of the log fire. The hotel food is a delight, plus we do highly endorse The Great House restaurant in the market square a few minutes walk away. It is French cuisine as it should be.

DON'T MISS THE SWAN HOTEL IN LAVENHAM!Posted Jan 2, 2012
Pros: The ancient hotel itself!!!
Cons: Ouch! Those IKEA table and chairs are so out of place in the Brasserie! What WERE you thinking, Mr. Decorator and whoever approved those plans?????
Location: Charming 14th century village, leaning houses, etc.; but enough little shops to provide necessities and items to take home.
We have stayed at the Swan Hotel 5 or 6 times in the past 20 years. It has changed hands a few times, and undergone renovations a couple of times. This management is superb; everything was wonderful. The dining room is beautifully managed; this time it was without compare in service and food. Megan at reception, and the other young women there were polite and professional and always smiling and eager to help. Dave was friendly and helpful with the luggage and reminding us of tea time and the champagne toast before dinner the days we were there (we stayed for only part of the New Year's package). One, and only one gripe: ditch that silly IKEA - style setup in the brasserie! It was always so wonderful with the lovely wing back and upholstered chairs...especially in front of the only open fire (really didn't like the other contained fire stoves, but understand the safety issue, as we remember guests putting too many logs in the open fires and the smoke would billow. :) THIS HOTEL IS A TREASURE THAT ON ONE SHOULD MISS! IT'S LIKE SOMETHING OUT OF ROBIN HOOD!. And you will be beautifully treated and have an extremely nice time. Very up-market, as the Brits say. Wonderful rooms...comfortable mattresses...charming village, with houses that lean on each other! Bring a good camera....go home with photos and wonderful memories.
