Holiday in the sun, with wildlife.

Posted Feb 3, 2014
Pros: The room and the ambience were first rate, as were the cleaning staff - a legacy of an earlier regime, one felt.
Cons: Competent professional management is urgently required.
Location: The Florida Keys are worth a look. Hemingway's cats are a delight. Be prepared to dodge giant six foot iguanas falling from trees in a cold snap.
The establishment was not as described. The odd assortment of characters running the place seemed to be in the middle of a family/business crisis. The restaurant was closed, even for breakfast. The nearest cafe was eight miles away.

Sugarloaf Lodge

Posted Jan 29, 2014
Pros: The location, availability of activities and the surrounding beauty. The close proximity to Key West.
Cons: The restaurant on location was closed and the closest places to eat are 2 to 3 miles away making a meal inconvenient.
Location: Close to Key West, marina with rentals and fishing on location.
The hotel is situated on the gulf side of Sugarloaf Key. It has beautiful sunsets and activities to complete the stay. The TIKI Bar was very nice and relaxing with live entertainment on the weekends.

Very happy with a fair price drive to Key West in less than half hour while enjoying a great quiet nice view. Dated hotel but good price half of key west prices. Clean and Safe

We stayed 2 nights at the Sugar Loaf Lodge, and it was so nice. The king size bed was comfortable. The sheets were soft, not scratchy and uncomfortable like some hotels. The staff were great and extremely helpful. We plan on using the hotel again.

Tropical paradise, indeed!

My fourth? stay over a dozen years, and I'll be back again and again. Not fancy but classy interior d├ęcor, very well maintained by the friendly staff. Quiet from highway noise; but fun Tiki bar gang till whenever if you want. Half-an-hour from Key West but definitely away from the Big City. Hesitate to give the proper great recommendation cuz I want to ensure I'll have a room when I breeze in again!
