“Best in Summit, New Jersey”
good for the price
“Definitely an older building”
The Grand Summit is 143 years old and it shows in some aspects. The building smelled "old" and many of the hallways seemed as though a cover up cleaner was used to mask the old smell. The pool was not open until near the end of our stay and in our opinion it could use a little TLC. It was a little on the cold side and had lots of stuff floating in it (leaves, pollen, bugs, and two lizards) Overall it was a nice place, and the staff was very nice. The vending machines were very finicky when it came to taking dollar bils for sodas. The 7-11 down the street ended up being our choice for snacks and drinks. The train station is conveniently located a short walk from the hotel.
“A trip back in time...an comfortable feel to a classic hotel”
We chose this hotel because of its proximity to our relatives. The hotel is a classic hotel that instantly welcomes you upon your arrival. In our case, we arrived on Tuesday evening and immediately noticed the open bar! After we checked in, we met relatives in the lobby and found out that the drinks were on the house. That was a nice touch! We ate in the hotel restaurant. The food was marginal but the atmosphere was just what we needed. The breakfast buffet in the morning was perfect. Our room was comfortable. The only noise we heard was in the morning from the street but we were up early anyway. I do suggest that fans be installed in the bathrooms. The elevators are older but run quite well and, movies continually run on a small TV in the elevator. This is a comfortable, urban style hotel. The parking charge was a surprise to us. We stayed in another NJ hotel in Fairfield which did not charge for parking.
“a bit overpriced”
the hotel was fine. so was the hot breakfast. it was pretty expensive though.
“Summit New Jersey's Finest”
If you need a hotel in the area or a beautiful venue for a wedding - this is the right place.
“Wonderful hotel”
I'm very impressed with this hotel. The only fault I can find is that the pillows could have been more comfortable. All pillows were very firm with no give at all. Mattress was delightful though.
“Hotel a little dated”
While well maintained, the hotel seemed a little dated.
“Past Its Prime”
Quaint and cozy, but too pricey for a place that needs renovating in the individual rooms. Had to pay for parking, too, in a virtually empty open-air lot. It was very convenient to the train to NYC, though - we could walk. Good breakfast, included. Don't count on storing drinks or leftovers in the fridge or using the microwave, though, because those aren't available.
“Would Return”
This was a very nice hotel, Room was very clean and comfortable. A quiet hotel, with a great breakfast included. Bar is nice as well. Would stay there again.
