Great stay
Very nice time in Sumter. Everyone was very friendly, bed was very comfortable, and breakfast was great. Bernadette is so very nice. She's the best!

This is an older building but they take care of it. The employees are sooooo freaking friendly and kind. I had an issue with the tub not draining and I mentioned it on my way out and when I came back a couple of hours later it was already taken car of.

The hotel was in a great area surrounded by restaurants and shopping centers. The building itself is old and could benefit from remodeling. The rooms smelled old and moldy.

At least the last at check in was amazing
The night worker who checked us in, she was amazing. She was a black lady with a white patch on her stylish hair, don't know her name so want her to get the praise she deserves. She was amazing. She checked us in with a beautiful smile, helped us with getting extra bedding and my son for got his tooth brush and my husband his razor, so she helped with that too. Not once did she look or sound sour. She has the personality of a saint! She is why I even gave this place a 3. The bathroom was so dirty I didn't let my kids take a bath in there. The black bathroom mold was gross! The blankets smelled gross and musty. The beds were ok though. The counter and sink was clean too but the fridge was filthy and the walls damaged. Will I return? If I do, it will be to meet that lady again. She was the kindest. My family is dairy free so the breakfast was not for us.

Terrible Stay
Our stay was horrible. The first room was not ready and the second smelled like mold. I could not get another room and had to tolerate the horrible smell. The best they could do was offer febreze which only lasted one hour. Even the lobby smelled like mold. I wiped off the ac unit and that was filthy. The best they could say was sorry we are preparing for a renovation. If thats the case close off rooms with that terrible smell.

Bathroom was not clean. White dried up stain or solution all over the bathroom. Need repairs in shower/tub. Suggest replacing shower/tub. Items from previous guest left under couch. All the furniture was chipped and damaged. Knobs missing from cabinet in sink area.

Mildew
It's was the passive aggressive nice nasty service from the front desk attendee, along with the smell of the rooms that made me cancel my stay. I had been on the road since 7:30am and it was around 6pm-7pm when I checked-in. The initial room was nice, clean and neat however it smelled of mildew. I contacted the front desk and requested to move to another room. The second room smelled worse than the first, but was too clean and neat. I was given Gain airfreshner when I decided to stay in the first room, but it didn't help with the strong odor of mildew. When I insisted on canceling my stay, I was offered yet another room and told all the rooms didn't smell like that. I declined viewing yet another room, I canceled the stay all together. My card was charged for the full stay and told I had to wait until Monday to speak with a manager to see about a refund when my card shouldn't have been charged in the first place.

I have stayed at this a few times and I have been pleased every time. The facility has always been clean and staff are always extremely nice and helpful. My children love the complimentary breakfast.
