Noisy and old

Posted Aug 6, 2014
Pros: Location for flights out of Gatwick. The cooked breakfast (included) was great. Price was reasonable.
Cons: Should be cleaned. Felt dusty. Room needed real blinds and a fan.
Location: On a road for which there is a string of B & B's. All in older buildings. Not sure how it compares to the others. Near Gatwick (short drive)
The Bad: The Gatwick Turret was a nice enough but we stayed in a room for a family (two adults and a child) and it was opposite the reception on the main floor. Lots of intermittent noise until after 11pm (tough when traveling with a child). We only stayed the night before catching a flight out the next day but it was a problematic room (not sure about other rooms). One bed was super soft and the other rock hard. There was a window outside that opened (great) but had minimal blinds and opened up to an area where there was an automatic light and people kept walking by activating the light. Our visit was during a hot spell, so it could have used a fan. That would have helped by also creating some white noise. The Mediocre: The room was adequate, but did not feel the cleanest. The Good: The breakfast was great in the morning. Lots of parking, close to the airport. There is a nice pub/restaurant called Ye Olde Six Bells, about a 5 minute walk away.

Hotel close to airport

Posted Jul 11, 2014
Bed and breakfast very close to gatwick. The family that runs the hotel is so nice and helpful. It is about 7 mins walk from a train station to take you to London, which takes about 40mins. The pass for unlimited rides for a day is about $30. So if you were thinking this was a cheap deal, just make sure to include this in your cost. The town of Horley has many shops, a few bars, and many restaurants and cafés. The town is very dead at night, but lively in the day. If you're on a budget this is definitely a great hotel, but if you can afford a little more I would stay closer to London.

Very convenient for Gatwick .

Pros: It has it's own shuttle van and gave a good service. Enjoyed the pub in Horley which is just a short walk away. The room was quiet.
Cons: The coffee.
Location: Easy access to Gatwick and to the restaurants in Horley.
The Turret has its own shuttle van and it was very helpful for us to be able to contact the owner on arrival at Gatwick. She gave us easy to follow instructions and picked us up in about ten minutes. We paid extra for a full English breakfast which was fine but the coffee was pretty bad.....tasted like instant. There is no longer a garden: it's been converted into a long term car park.

Pros: 10 min. walking to the Horley train station where there are frequent trains to central London.
Cons: Wi-Fi is available but is not free.
Shuttle from and to Gatwick provided for only 5 GBP per room (both ways).

Good location for Gatwick

The overnight was fine. We arrived at about 4 pm, and had to ring repeatedly before the door was answered. There was an extra charge to use visa as opposed to debit - but since our Canadian debit card would not work in the machine, we paid the extra to use visa. The room with ensuite was ok, on the third floor up narrow stairs. The breakfast was well prepared and the service was good. The price included a free shuttle to the airport, which was much appreciated.
