Short weekend break

Posted Aug 21, 2014
Pros: The building was very impressive but a bit tired. Staff very helpful. Plenty of parking. Very nice breakfast of smoked salmon and scrambled egg.
Cons: No TV. There was no lock on the room door! There was no house keeping on Sunday so bed unmade etc. Tea & coffee making could have been better.
We used Hambleton House as a base for visiting the festival of speed at Goodwood. We were quite impressed with the house in general but it was a bit shabby in places. There was plenty of on site parking and we were greeted by two very friendly dogs. The staff were very helpful and agreed to provide a very early and very good breakfast so that we could get on our way to the festival. On the down side there was no lock on the room door, luckily we did not have to leave any valuables in the room while we were out. There was no housekeeping on Sunday so the room was as we had left it in the morning, bed had not been made etc. There was also no TV in the room. The tea and coffee making facilities could have been better, there were mouldy dregs in the cafetiere. The house was very dark and gloomy there were no lights on the stairs or corridors.

A lovely, if not slightly eccentric place to stay. Had a fabulous time. Breakfast was wonderful and the surroundings - stunning!

Lovely room

If you want a clinical, minimalist, modern hotel, do not stay here. If you want a warm welcome, to be made to feel like part of the family and love country houses this is for you. Lovely room (we had the African Suite), great breakfast, with homemade granola, croissants, toast plus full english and all the trimmings. Thankyou Bron, Vanessa, Oliver, Cosmo and Michael, plus dogs for making us feel at home. Great pubs nearby too.

Great venue to go and stay at to have a home from home experience, the location is great for a weekend away, and the hospitality is second to none

Quite comfortable country house

Pros: Beautiful land and positioning
Cons: no shower in room only bath
The hotel is really well positioned and pretty gardens which are huge. The hotel is more of a private house than a hotel. Is quite and comfortable
